What readers are saying about MANGROVES AND MONSTERS:

Mangroves and Monsters... WOW. A fabulous addition to the story!! I love, love, love the twists. The feeling like I should be somewhere too hot and humid for my comfort. I found the Caribbean to be quite lovely from my couch. There is so much more to put into a review, but I dare not giveaway *any* of the story! ~ Jody, Goodreads.com

A good, fun read! ~ Carrie, Goodreads.com

A new plot twist on every page. ~ Ann Crutchfield, Florida USA

If you love a good romance and good mystery, you get it all right here. ~ Wendy Hill, North Carolina USA

If you love really evil bad guys, spooky settings, and a story that will keep you wondering all the way to the end, you will love Hoodoo Money! I hope Ms. Pennington has more planned like this book because this book just whets my appetite. ~ Stevi B, Reviewer, Manic Readers

From the Author

One of my earliest fiction heroines was Nancy Drew. I couldn't get enough of her. Nancy was self-confident and clever and always, ALWAYS eyeball deep in trouble. Oddly, she was the direct opposite of me. Hoodoo Money is the kind of romantic suspense novel I loved to read then, and still do. Hopefully, I've succeeded in filling its pages with enough mystery to spark the imagination and ample romance to stir the heart. With a dose of sizzle thrown in for good measure.

More About the Author

Sharon Cupp Pennington's love of mysteries is rooted in a gazillion bicycle excursions to her local library as a girl, and hours spent sitting on the floor in back aisles surrounded by books. Trying to decide which three or four would go home in her bike's basket. If a new Nancy Drew novel appeared on those shelves, all the better. She'd found the day's treasure.

Here are a few of the fun things readers are saying about her books:

Hoodoo Money was like ice cream. I just couldn't put it down! Every time I looked up from my Kindle I couldn't fathom why I wasn't in New Orleans, or Galveston. I could feel the heat, taste the mugginess. AND your mouthwatering descriptions of all those foods! OMG! Could I get a kitchen, please? I absolutely ate up the ending - and then it was gone. ~ Jodi, Goodreads.com

Braeden and Angeline are in New Orleans on a working vacation when Angeline takes a souvenir nickel from the grave of a hoodoo gypsy. What follows next is a twisting and turning tale of murder and love. This will keep you turning pages to get to the end, I sat up late to finish this one. ~ Theresa N, Goodreads.com

I picked this book up last night and sat down to read the whole thing in one night. I have not read a good mystery in a while and this qualified. The setting was beautifully described and the character development was deep. I really felt I could picture each of Pennington's interesting characters. The action moved very fast and there were some surprises towards the end. A good, fun read! ~ Carrie, Goodreads.com

A new plot twist on every page: A mystery and a romance novel all in one book. Every time I thought I had the mystery solved, the author threw in another twist . . . right up to the final pages! ~ Ann Crutchfield, Florida USA

Sharon Pennington's newest novel whisks the reader to a tropical paradise where the hunt for lost love and a maniacal killer races to a page turning climax. Old love rekindles, new love sparks, and ever-present danger lurks in the shadows. Well developed characters and palpable tension make Mangroves and Monsters a must read.

Sharon Pennington's romantic suspense pulls you in and wraps you in a mystery laced with sexual energy. This plot and beautifully crafted set of characters will keep you up late and force you to finish the story in one sitting. Mangroves and Monsters serves as both a sequel to her first release Hoodoo Money and a stand-alone, but either way, you won't put it down. It's that intriguing and flows that easily. Cooper seeks his love and ex-supermodel Angeline even after being told she'd died in an accident. On the Caribbean island of Jacqueme Dominique he locates not only her but his young son conceived in a moment of passion years ago. But another has followed Cooper, an enemy who still haunts Cooper's dreams. Passion, deceit, murder, and abduction embroil family and friends in a tropical novel that will leave you craving another sequel from this author. Trust me. Pennington can spin a story.

Charlie Cooper has never forgotten the love of his life. Her name is Angeline St. Cyr. She was hit by a car and died. There is just one problem...Angeline is not dead! Angeline isn't fully surprised when Charlie tracks her down in the Caribbean on the tropical island of Jacqueme Dominique. She always knew that Charlie wouldn't give up looking for her till he found her. What do you say to someone you thought was dead?

William Voorhees, an old arch nemesis has Charlie in his sights. He wants to destroy Charlie. One way he can really get to Charlie is by killing everyone he loves. If Charlie isn't careful, he could find himself buried in the sand.

Mangroves and Monsters is the second book by Mrs. Cupp Pennington. Her first novel was Hoodoo Money. This book moved a little slow for me at first but luckily the story picked up quickly. I found Charlie to be a likable guy. I didn't really feel the connection between him and Angeline. She seemed a little standoffish to me at first. This is why I couldn't see what Charlie saw in Angeline. The location for this story was the best. Mrs. Cupp Pennington picks just the right setting for her stories to help set the mood. Like they say...location is everything. I thought it was kind of funny that the enemy shares the same last name as another famous character. Only this Voorhees doesn't wear a hockey mask or carry a machete. This Voorhees though is just as ruthless. Author, Sharon Cupp Pennington can spin a good tale.

I purchased this book on my Kindle after reading the first novel in the series Hoodoo Money. This sequel did not disappoint! The story continues on with the characters taking them to the Caribbean. The author has written a well-crafted novel with exciting plots and a cast of fully-developed characters. The descriptions of the lush tropical island setting are on target. This is another first-class romantic suspense from an extremely talented writer. Hope to read more from this author.

MANGROVES AND MONSTERS (The Stolen Nickel Series) by Sharon Cupp Pennington
The story takes place on the Caribbean island of Jacqueme Dominique. It is a mystery type of book, it has a bit of romance, and of course a murder. I did blush while reading certain parts but it was not inappropriate for the scene.
The main Characters of the story are Charlie Cooper (also called Coop), Angeline St. Cyr, Brent St. Cyr, and Kat.
I could not pick just one favorite character as all the characters in the book were well developed and I came to care for all the characters.
After the first book the second was easier to understand what the writer was doing. I liked how it wasn’t just told from one point of view and you got to see in side all the main characters. I was not able to home in on who the bad person (I’m not saying who it is) was and only figured it out as the main characters did. Although I will say my gut was screaming at me something was not right with a couple of the characters. Also Willem Voorhees does make an appearance.
I felt every emotion that the characters felt. Even though I have never lost a child or someone I loved I was able to understand a little of what they were going through, I could feel everything the characters were feeling and it was very refreshing. I did cry and laugh and want to shot someone, so the author did a great job of pulling you into the book. This book was a page turner and once I got started I had a very hard time putting the book down.
I cannot wait to read the next book in the series as this one left me wanting more.
I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries, romance, or someone who just want a good read!

This is the second book I have read by this author. Her first book was titled Hoodoo Money.

Charlie finally finds his wife after believing she has been dead for 5 years. The author takes you to a getaway to a tropical paradise and involves mystery, suspense and action. The book does move a little slow for my taste in the beginning, but picks up about halfway through. It has a wonderful mystery in the plot that keeps you guessing until the end. It also has rekindled love that you will find touching. If you like mysteries, then this is an excellent book to read. The author made it flow nicely and knows how to write.
