The desk of the Manhasset 48 Symphony Music Stand is the same size as on the standard Symphony model stand, but this model just has a back support that folds out for tabletop use (instead of being on a stand base). A rubber foot on the back support and felt pads on the desk protect table surfaces from scratches. Width of desk is 20", height of desk is 12.5"; ledge is approximately 2.5" deep.

perfect desktop substitute,

After beating up our instruments using the floor stands, we purchased this equal quality desktop version. It sits at the open end of a desk where we practice unfettered by any desk legs or music stand feet. It never falls over and has never caused damage to our instruments as the floor stands did. value: priceless

This is high quality music stand. It's very strong and very stable. The prop on the back (which is a little stiff and won't move without a firm hand) pivots so that the stand can be virtually flat for storage or to adjust the slope of the stand for your music. If the prop ever got loose it has a large screw and nut that could be tightened. The main part of the stand has two felt table protectors on it and it sits nicely on a table or where ever you wish to place it. The only disadvantage is the height is not adjustable but you could choose a different table, coffee table or a dining table or put some books under it if you wished.

Simple, strong, light weight and it folds flat for storage - what else could you want? Like all Manhasset products (I LOVE their sheet music/copy stnads!) this is quality stuff but reasonably priced. Set this on a desktop, add scripts and a nearby microphone and start reading, particularly good for audio book recording and podcasting.
