5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, easy to assemble, great value
This is a great music stand for a great price. It's metal and has a solid base so it's not tipsy. I've seen it used in orchestras but it blends into the home decor because of it's simplicity. Great for longterm use, especially for growing young musicians. I prefer this over the portable, foldable wire stands.

1.0 out of 5 stars Rusted spots on the bottom of tripod base; Is this natural or defective?
The customer service is so terrible. I found out that the bottom of tripod base has rusted spots. I contacted the customer service via email for an exchange. They asked me to send a photo of the rusted spots. So I sent a photo back to them but there was no response for a few days. I called the customer service again and the person said that it's a natural discoloration or...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, durability, and ease of use, October 20, 2006

This stand is used at two of the three schools I rehearse at, and is the one I purchased for my own use. It's solid but of reasonable weight, tolerates being throw in the trunk with a bunch of instruments and stands, and stays put, even when used at the full height. The lip is a sheet of aluminum, easy to get clips on and off. The powder-coated surface will eventually start to show scuffs and scratches, but no more than any other stand out there. And yes, the "clutch" will eventually give out, but it's cheap and easy to replace. This is far outweighed by the convenience of being able to adjust the stand height without unscrewing something. Barring this infrequent (hasn't happened in three years of weekly use) repair, it will last forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Stand for the money, March 12, 2007

I had been shopping local music stores for music stands for my home, and I ultimatly was turned off by the price disparity between store and online prices. I was initially nervous about buying the Manhasset music stand becase similarly priced stands in the stores were made of light, flimsy metal that seemed cheap to the touch.

I was delighted when I received this music stand. The assembly was very easy. It comes in 3 pieces, and requires a pair of pliers and a screw driver to assemble. It took me about 3 minutes to get it all assembled once I had the tools in front of me.

The stand is a little lighter than I expected, weighing about 2-3 lbs. However, even though it is light, the top is sturdy and will not bend if you are trying write. The stand extends to about 60 inches at its maximum.

I strongly recommend this stand for home use.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Music Stand, August 1, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Manhasset Model #48 Sheet Music Stand (Electronics)
I bought this stand because I wanted the bigger lip for both my music books and my violin bow to rest on. It works perfectly. Very sturdy, very easy to adjust.

Great product and was shipped out very quickly from seller.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, Holds a Lot of Music, Looks Great, February 17, 2009

I love this music stand. The reason I bought this was because previously I had been using a fold-up portable one, and one of the sides fell, causing my tuner to fall to the ground and break. I love how sturdy this stand is and how many books I can leave on it at once! It also looks very professional, which is great for any music teacher. To adjust to height, you just need to pull/push down. It's so easy.

The assembly was fairly easy with only a screwdriver and perhaps a pair of pliers needed. Although it didn't come with any instructions, I was able to figure it out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stands the test of time, September 25, 2006
This review is from: Manhasset Model #48 Sheet Music Stand (Electronics)
These stands have been used in schools, colleges, and professionally for at least 45 years.

They are nearly industructible, very reliable, and easy to use.

Avoid the clip on lights...they are also a decades old design. They only throw light at the top of the music and are very poor in conditions such as found for musicals or opera.

5.0 out of 5 stars Useful and Affordable, July 2, 2007
This music stand holds heavy music books without much trouble. For those looking for something portable, this is not it. This is great for a more permanent use.

5.0 out of 5 stars This stand is great!, June 21, 2006
This review is from: Manhasset Model #48 Sheet Music Stand (Electronics)
This stand is very sturdy, and professional looking. There are no annoying bolts to mess with- you just push and it moves up and down, or side to side. It is also a very competitive price. I wish I had bought it, mine was more expensive, and nowhere near as good.

5.0 out of 5 stars product as described!, November 13, 2008

This is a great music stand. You could adjust the height from a sitting position to stand up position. So, it works well for any musician, even for very young student. It is sturdy and you could easily write, make notes on the music, or keep your metronom on this stand. Also, it will hold thick music books. If you need a stand to travel, you need to get a portable one. For your everyday practice at home, get one of this!
