Book Description

October 25, 1990
Architectural photographer Nathaniel Lieberman sees New York in terms of light: the light of dawn casting a honey-coloured glow over the East River; the light of dusk soothing the stately structures on Central Park West; and artificial light setting midtown Manhattan ablaze at night. Taken from high on top of New York's skyscrapers and from its bridges and boroughs, these 55 vistas portray this powerful city. There is an introduction by Mark Helprin, quotes about New York by a host of literary residents and visitors - past and present - and an arial view of Manhattan.

5.0 out of 5 stars A most artistic and beautiful composition of NYC photos., October 3, 1997
This review is from: Manhattan Lightscape (Hardcover)
After reading many architecture and photography books about NYC I knew this book was a keeper when I noticed it at a used book store in Boston. I have yet to find a more visceral or beautiful collection of photos about the great city. Likewise, the collection of prose is equally captivating and informative to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New York City pictures, November 26, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Manhattan Lightscape (Hardcover)
If you love New York City and can't live there this will help. The pictures are fantastic and the photographer, Nathaniel Lieberman, gives a description of what each picture is and where it was taken, including buildings, streets and avenues. The center of the book has Central Park, taken during each of the four seasons, with a description and also drawings of the park. This is the kind of book that each time you look at it you find things you didn't see the last time. Great book!
