Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

Manhattan Review’s origin can be traced directly to an Ivy-League MBA classroom in 1999. While lecturing on advanced quantitative subjects to MBAs at Columbia Business School in New York City, Dr. Joern Meissner was asked by his students to assist their friends, who were frustrated with conventional GMAT preparation options. He started to create original lectures that focused on presenting the GMAT content in a coherent and concise manner rather than a download of voluminous basic knowledge interspersed with so-called "tricks". The new approach immediately proved highly popular with GMAT students, inspiring the birth of Manhattan Review.

Highly-acclaimed Manhattan Review Turbocharge Your GMAT preparation materials include about 600 pages of well-illustrated and professionally presented strategies and originally written problems for both the Verbal Section and Quantitative Section, 200 pages of detailed solutions, and more than 300 pages of internally developed Quantitative Glossary and Verbal Vocabulary List with detailed definitions, related words and sentence examples. The detailed breakdown of exclusive practice problems per category is 40+ Reading Comprehension passages, 60 Critical Reasoning questions, 250 Sentence Correction questions, and 300+ Quantitative questions.

Since its founding, Manhattan Review has grown into a multi-national educational services firm, focusing on GMAT preparation, consulting services for business school admissions, and executive coaching programs for young business professionals. It has a network of highly satisfied customers all over England, continental Europe and the US. The original lectures have been expanded and modified by the Manhattan Review Team, a group of master test-takers and experienced business coaches, to assure that Manhattan Review offers the most time-efficient and cost-effective preparation available for the GMAT.

Turbocharge Your GMAT series is the result of this arduous effort of Manhattan Review, which offers weekend crash courses, one-week intensive courses, weekday and weekend long courses, online workshops, free seminars, and private tutoring to students in the US, UK, Continental Europe, Asia and the rest of the world. Its website has a wealth of free information and promotions including free offers to World MBA Tour Fairs, free MBA Panel Discussions, free GMAT & MBA Admissions Workshops, free downloads, MBA and GMAT essentials, free InFocus Newsletters, free interview articles, and more. Its website is frequently updated with free resources! If you reside outside of the US, please refer to the International Location section for your local content.

A very good solutions book for those tough math questions in the Study Guide! Many different ways of solving the very same problem is laid out. I also like the tables in the back of the book. They re-sorted all the OG and Study Guide questions by type and topic. Very useful if you want to tackle one major math topic at one time in a progressive manner!

Awesome explanations! Sometimes even eye-opening solutions. Good to know there's more than one way to skin a cat. I think we should all try to use the shortest cut to solve any problem to gain valuable time on those ones we are unsure about.

I got the entire 4 book set. Heard great things from my colleagues about this series. They really lived up to my expectation though the book covers could have been laminated to make them sturdier! The solutions are very details. In the back, it also sorts all the official guide questions by type and by number. Studying using both Turbocharge and OG is very effective for me.

I bought the set of 4 books (Math Guide + Solutions Guide, and Verbal Guide + Solutions) and am studying on my own. While doing the math Practice Problems, I realized there were many errors in the Solutions Guide (not the Math Guide). When there weren't errors, the author still does not do a good enough job of explaining EVERYTHING in detail or putting the necessary graphics (when needed) to explain his answers. If you are planning to use this Books for SELF study, then I don't really recommend these books.

IF the whole point of the books is that you can study on your own (At least according to [...] recommendation, awhich is a website supported by the Manhattan review), and check your answers (by buying the Solutions guide), then the solutions books should have lots of details, examples, graphics, etc to explain everything so someone can understand and have ZERO doubts of "How did he do that", "Where is the illustration"? The solutions guide (separate book) is such a disappointment!!!

Buying this book on it's own is worthless, as you don't have answers to any of the questions. What was the point of making 2 separate books? When they could have included everything (Questions & Solutions) into a single book!

The format of the text looks VERY unprofessional, and looks more like a book that your high school or college teacher would give you which is made up of black and white copies of his notes or papers. Maybe these books are just for you to use when you buy the Manhattan GMAT course, and then they would be useful. BUT THEY ARE NOT useful on their own....

The Math Review of the Barron's GMAT book is way better!

Good luck!
