5.0 out of 5 stars Detailed, well-made toy, January 6, 2009

This review is from: Royal Renaissance Bartholomew - small (Toy)
Another hit from Manhattan Toy. From the several different dragons in the Royal Renaissance series, we ordered Bartholomew, because he most closely resembled Puff the Magic Dragon (our daughter loves the song). Dragons are available in small or large. We ordered the small (13 inch) size.

I was so impressed with the quality of this toy, from the sculptural qualities of the head, wings and tail, to the varied fabrics. Horns are silver lame', toe nails are soft vinyl, and the underbelly is something close to velour or velvet. Lots of interesting textures, and the toy still has the right amount of squeezable softness.

The small size is perfect for our 2 year old to carry around. In a boy's room, the larger version looks like it would be cool sitting out (on a dresser or floor) to play up a fantasy or knights/dragons decor.

We've only had him a month, but so far no obvious signs of wear. Wish I could say the same for some of the Pottery Barn stuff Santa brought!

This dragon is a wonderful toy. I teach kindergarten Spanish and use him as a prop to go along with the book, "Si Yo Tuviera Dragon." (If I had a dragon) The students drew and painted pictures of him and presented them to me. We work with over 20 stuffed animals and Batholomew is one of the favorites.

While the toy comes with a hefty price tag it sure is a great deal nicer in quality and craftsmanship then others I have compared it to. The dragon resembles several in childhood story books. I use it as a prop at the preschool, although, my own grandson keeps trying to take it home. Guess I might have to purchase another.

I've never had so much fun until I got this thing. I didn't graduate grade school, but since getting this dragon, I graduated Med School, and I'm doing complicated brain surgery now - complicated for other surgeons, that is. This thing is DURABLE. My house recently burned down, and the only thing left intact was the dragon. Overall, I rate this toy a 5.
