My 6 month old loves the Manhattan Toy Winkel! I highly recommend this toy and all of its uses, but buy in an actual storefront to know what you're getting. The price on Amazon was hard to beat, but received second rate toy.

1. Nowhere in the listing does it say colors may vary. And if you go to the Manhattan Toy website, you will find only two variations in the colors of this toy. The one we received was not as pictured. A baby doesn't care about colors, but when I receive something not as pictured or described in the listing, and especially not like what is found on the brand website, I question authenticity.

2. Even more concerning is that the center rattle piece was also slightly damaged - two cracks on one side, peeling on a corner, and polka dots not solidly painted. Toy seems safe for babies and small children and hard to destroy in transit, so I'm not sure how the quality of this toy was overlooked prior to shipping. Definitely not the same quality of the Winkels my friends have or that I've seen sold in stores!

Did they think I wouldn't notice any of this?!

I found out about this toy on a parenting forum where some mom wrote "I melted my son's Winkel!" after a few chuckles about the obvious "what that *could* have been referring to" I went and looked at the product itself and after hearing other parent comments about how much their little person enjoyed this I decided I would get one for our little boy too.

First of all: I guess you probably shouldn't put this toy in a sanitizer (like you would use to sanitize baby bottles) that's how the forum mom melted her son's toy. So put that on the top of the "don't do this" list.

This is plastic and it is made in China but purports to be PVC and phaelate free. When it arrived it was very clean. I washed it off with a little soap and water to be safe but I am not too concerned about him sticking it in his mouth.

I gave this to our son when he was ten weeks old. He was able to grab it and hold it and eventually started passing it from one hand to the other and holding it up, sticking it in his mouth, playing with it with his feet. I think it makes a good first toy. It's light enough and soft/flexible enough he can't really hurt himself with it.

It's also really cute and reminds geek daddy a little bit of an atom or molecule.

This has been the perfect toy for my 4-month-old: It's one of only 2 toys he's been able to grab with both hands and mouth consistently. I really think it's been a great way to get him more confident and excited about developing those fine motor skills. Great, solid materials and fun colors. The rattle in the inner cube is a nice added bonus (and not too loud!)

I was really excited to get this toy for my daughter, because all the reviews were so positive. The toy got dirty so I washed it in some soapy water, this is when it bled green dye all over the wash cloth. If it's bleeding dye from a little soap, who knows how much dye my little one could ingest when she's chewing on it... Needless to say I threw it out.

Beware of counterfeit product. I received a toy that was clearly not of the quality of the one I checked out at the store.

My son is currently 4 months old, and this is currently his favorite toy. He loves to watch it, hold it, and chew on it with his gums.

I thought this was a fool proof purchase, perfect for baby to grab and chew, I did a lot of research. Only thing I didn't consider is that when baby grabs and pulls to mouth to chew, the arch shaped tubes go to the back/side teeth. Which would be great if that is where they are teething, but most babies get their front teeth first, and this toy does little to nothing for helping with that. My LO got his front bottom teeth at 5mo, he is now 7 mo, I purchased this toy at 4 months and he still shows little interest in it (despite my efforts to make him like it). Hopefully when his side and back teeth start coming in he will get use out of it.
Gave it 3 stars because I'm hoping that we might eventually get use out of it.
Sidebar: I'm not sure if it is the case with all of them, but the square in the middle of ours only rattles 50% of the time.

My 2.5 month old son was becoming very frustrated because he wanted to put everything in his mouth and did not have the coordination. I searched for a toy that he could easily hold and cram into his mouth at the same time. This fit the bill! It's very colorful and got his attention right away. It was the first toy he could easy chew on his own without my help. Now that he is 3.5 months old, he still loves to chew this toy, even though his coordination has improved and he can hold and chew others. It holds his interest for quite awhile and he's learning to shake it for the rattle noise as well.

The toy seems very durable and is easy to rinse off. Anything that makes playtime fun for my baby gets an A+ in my book! Great first toy.

My grandson LOVES his Winkle toy! At 4 mos old, he's learning to grasp with both hands and being BPA free, this is a wonderful, safe toy that holds his interest - also nice for teething!

We bought this early on when our son could begin grasping, probably around 2 or 3 months. It was the only toy that he could grasp and keep ahold of to use as a teether. The wires were so small and so numerous, that it didn't matter where he grabbed, he would get one and be to hold onto it and put it in his mouth. It was also small enough that we could take it with us and it has been in many restaurants since.

He began to lose interest in it around 6 - 7 months. But it was irreplaceable for those 4 months he did use it. A must have.
