4.0 out of 5 stars Manhunt 2 will punch your balls off
If you liked the first one, you should enjoy this one.
The story is interesting, though I see where they're going with it. The graphics are definitely not state-of-the-art, nor do they need to be. Gives it a more gritty, sleazy feel. If you loved the first Manhunt, you'll probably like the sequel enough to make it worth buying. The over all freaky, gritty, and gross feel of the first game is there. The basic mechanics work much the same way as well.

There are a few cool new features. You have to react to enemies searching for you in the shadows now. You can also climb and crawl.

But like it or not, the edited version DOES hinder the game playing experience. Manhunt is a perversely violent and demented trip through a nightmare world. It's SUPPOSED to be. The flashes of static every time you slash, stab, or bludgeon in execution mode does effectively mute the money shot. Manhunt 2 doesn't even contain half the gore of its predecessor. Sickos (like me) who enjoy playing games like this simply BECAUSE of their graphic nature, will (and should) feel cheated.

There are other disappointments. The graphics and physics are not any better than the first Manhunt's. In fact, thanks to the edits, they're probably worse. And the camera spins like crazy whenever you try and run from multiple enemies.

Buy it if you loved the first one. Buy it just to show that there is a vibrant adult market for games like this. But hopefully, once the silly controversy blows over, an adults only version will be available for purchase online.

Nice touch on the health kits... very much in keeping with the character's mental state. The Wii controls are taking me a bit of getting used to, but I can tell once I get the hang they'll be a snap. So far as the controversial way Rockstar dealt with the executions... come on. If you are that hard up to see them go to youtube, there's a 10 minute "greatest hits" video highlighting all the unedited kills. At least we got the game. The sound design is outstanding and is making me rethink my career arc. A solid buy for only $40.00, and its only $30.00 for the PSP and PS2.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not For The Faint Of Heart, December 1, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Manhunt 2 (Video Game)
There was a lot of controversy when this game came out, which meant I had to play it. I bought it for the Wii immediately and loved this game. Yes, it's a very deranged and bloody game with a horrifically demented story told like none other... but you'd have to be an idiot if you didn't know that before buying the game.

The Wii motion controls get you all the more involved in the game and you will at times find yourself so immersed in this game that it's frightening.

Definitely not for the faint of heart or children... or something you'd want your girlfriend's parents to see you playing.

My only gripe was that the murders were distorted due to government censoring. I'm not going to hold that against the game though, it wasn't their fault and they didn't let it affect the quality of game play.

I can't wait for Manhunt 3!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! with a BUT, November 4, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Manhunt 2 (Video Game)
The Wii version of this franchise is amazing. The killing sequences require you to move the controller in order to end your victim.

The BUT: Rockstar had to "blur" the killing scenes in order to censor this title for sale. I just reviewed the Bill of Rights and low and behold, there is nothing about censorship in there. If I had the money I would sue the ESRB and any affiliated group due to the total violation of said amendment. I am 35. I enjoy playing games like this. It is up to me to decide if I want to see or hear something like this, not any self proclaimed, unelected board.

Whatever happened to personal responsibility. Oh, BTW, I bought this at Target with Saw III and 50 Cents latest album. Funny thing, they weren't censored.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Buying!, July 12, 2010
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Manhunt 2 (Video Game)
I bought this game two years ago, and I have to say I've gotten a wii especially for this game. It's too bad it didn't come for xbox 360, but speaking from all of the terrible games that are for the wii, this would probably have to be the best one. Even the new super mario brothers was a bit childish.

If you were a fan of Manhunt 1, hands down you will enjoy this game. The shooting parts are kind of difficult. I haven't been able to complete it as of yet, but that's because it is also a true challenge. It is still very enjoyable though. It makes you want to keep playing. The graphics and gameplay have greatly improved over the first one. In the beginning, you're needing to escape from the mental hospital and I think that setting is perfect and 'scary' enough in itself. When you're gone, you continue to go through a series of episodes that take place in various settings. Basically, to move on you need to complete your goal (which is basically getting as far as you need to, and killing all of those who need to be killed). What I would suggest though is to try the first one (I've bought the first manhunt for pc originally. Plays really well.), and then go out and try this game. You will love it. It is very adult oriented (I think I've learned the word 'deviant' from the Sexual Deviants mission, haha) but overall I think it is a very good play. Very worth it for the price you can get it at now.

3.0 out of 5 stars Finally here, for better or worse, December 2, 2007
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Manhunt 2 (Video Game)
Rockstar is no stranger to controversy, which Manhunt 2 garnered much of when it was labeled with an Adults Only rating not too long ago. Now, Manhunt 2 is finally here and carrying a Mature rating instead, but don't think that this game has been watered down a whole lot. If you played the original Manhunt, you'll feel right at home here as you play as escaped inmate Danny, who is on a mission to seek the truth. However, as the title of the game implies, you've got some trouble approaching on your tail in the form of hunters, who are looking to do some harm to you, which is saying it quite lightly. As with the first game, stealth is the name of the game, and it requires quite a bit of skill that proves pretty rewarding once you get the hang of it. The execution moves serve up ample amounts of blood and guts as well, even though a blurring effect has been added to the most violent scenes of the game. Manhunt 2 isn't without it's flaws though, including the fact that the game isn't really all that suspenseful compared to the first game. The atmosphere remains eerie, but it just feels like there's something missing here. The music and sound effects are well done, but the graphics engine looks incredibly dated. Gameplay wise, the stealth tricks work wonderfully, but the gunplay elements are rather disappointing in terms of style. The story is pretty engaging though, and it's good to have a gritty and adult-themed game on the Wii, no matter what controversy develops. All in all, the controversial Manhunt 2 is finally here, and it's definitely worth checking out, but whether or not it's worth adding to your library is entirely up to you.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not really satisfied, December 9, 2007

Well, I got this game thinking that it would be a great killing spree kind of game. With violence and the whole bit. It's sad to find that this game didn't show the violence action that I was looking for. The blurred out scenes made it hard to follow the cruel executions because you're trying to read the controller's instructions AND trying to focus in on what's going on. It's almost impossible if you're not used to the controls yet.

The storyline is about the only thing that is keeping my interest. I can see where the storyline is going but playing this game feels like watching an action/horror with the action part missing. It's pretty sad.

The graphics of this game is alright, you can see they really tried to integrate a somewhat realistic game with the wii's compatibilities.

All n all, it's a solid game but it's missing a few things fans would love.

Not as easy to control as the PSP version but still awesome. The only game I wanted for the Wii. My kid/wife plays all the mario crap and I play Manhunt 2. My gaming lies with Xbox 360 which is a way better system.

2.0 out of 5 stars Buggy, November 9, 2011
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

I'm not really able to enjoy the game as my character continually freezes or seems to get stuck. I then have to flail the controls to get him unstuck. This happened several times in the 1 hour I played the game.

I can't say I enjoy the controls, having to move the Wii remote and/or nun-chuck in any number of directions to kill people. It would be nice to have simple button controls for a game like this for more accurate movement.

3.0 out of 5 stars This game is alright but not as great as Manhunt, July 13, 2011
= Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Manhunt 2 (Video Game)
If you loved the first Manhunt as much as I did then you will get a fun gaming experience out of Manhunt 2. Although it is totally bogus that they sort of censor the executions. I thought playing on the wii was neat cause you make stabbing and slashing motions to perform the executions. The gameplay is essentially similar to the first manhunt except instead of being forced to kill for snuff films your character is a psychopath split personality freak. This game is pretty fun but somehow I feel that it just does not share the spirit of the original Manhunt. Which was murdering to excite and thrill an audience. Manhunt 2 is more like murder for some other reason that isn't as interesting. I would still recommend this game to anyone who loves to murder endless cartoon characters on the TV. Now where the heck is Manhunt 3 already? They are pushing the boundaries of games every day. We need an awesome ultra-violent return to this series. C'mon!!
