Editorial Reviews

Review

Carly Carpenter's sister Jenna has run off with her true love and left behind a fiancé and an arranged wedding in the making. The family business is at stake if a marriage doesn't take place. Carly's biological clock is ticking and she wants to get married but she has no prospects. What's a cultural anthropologist fresh from a remote island to do? Why, go manhunting of course! She agrees to be a substitute bride for the handsome Holt Cassidy, but will he go along with it? Using all her field research and a stack of index note cards, Carly will get her man no matter what it takes. But when it appears Jenna has been kidnapped, getting her man takes on new meaning. Carly and Holt team up, despite his reluctance, to find the wayward bride before it's too late...and before Holt has had a chance to answer Carly's proposal. Humor, romance and suspense make for some fun surprises in Carolyn Andrews' Manhunting in Manhattan. Despite a slow start, the story sizzles as Carly and Holt pursue Jenna's kidnappers on a wild romp through Manhattan. A fun tale sure to keep readers entertained as the mystery unfolds. Manhunting in Manhattan is the only way to see the Big Apple! Carolyn Andrews creates the most clever and interesting characters! A talented author with a gift for dialogue! The mystery will keep you guessing and the romance will leave you sighing for more! Carolyn Andrews has written a witty story readers will love! 3.0 out of 5 stars An uneven journey, March 4, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Manhunting In Manhattan (Manhunting...) (Harlequin Temptation) (Mass Market Paperback)
I wanted to like this book a whole lot more than I actually did. The premise was interesting but promised just a bit more than the book acutally delivered. I never fully understood the hero's motivation to agree to an arranged marriage and, yet, I was rooting for him to marry the right woman in the end. I was never convinced of any real danger to anyone yet, again, I kept turning the pages until the end when I was assured of the happy ending for all. A rough read of a potentially delightful tale.
