4.0 out of 5 stars Maniac Cop is back! But this time he has a playmate... August 26, 2003
Format:VHS Tape
Matt Cordell rises from his watery grave and seeks revenge on those who killed him in the previous entry. He also causes trouble by killing cops and helping the criminals. And when he teams up with a homicidal serial killer, it's up to though cop Sean Mc Kinney and his partner Susan Riley to stop this murderous duo before it's to late.
A very entertaining and well acted movie. Better than you'd expect and well directed by William Lustig (Maniac, Uncle Sam)One of the film most memorable scenes is where Matt Cordell causes a massacre at a police station.
The Maniac Cop movies are very underated slashers in my opninion. So, if you like other slasher movie series such as Friday The 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Child's Play and Halloween, you should add Maniac Cop 1-3 to your collection as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars The best in the trilogy! October 18, 2003
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
Maniac Cop 2 is the best in the whole trilogy! It has some really awesome action scenes and some funny one-liners from the murderer that Matt Cordell becomes friends with. The car chase mid-way through the movie was awesome and well thought out. Robert Z'dar gives an awesome and well played performance in his second go 'round as the Maniac Cop. If you're into action movies with a little bit of horror, then be sure to give this one a look!

3.0 out of 5 stars Manaic Cop Is Back On Patrol! July 20, 1999
By A Customer
Format:VHS Tape
Maniac Cop 2 is the entertaining follow up to the 1988 B-Movie Classic, Maniac Cop. Maniac Cop 2 takes place nine months after the original movie saw the infamous Officer Matt Cordell drown in the East River. After the original movie's heros' Officers Forrest and Mallory are killed violently, Detective Sean Mckinney (Robert Davi) begins the search for their killer. Mckinney is also battling another series of killings in the city, while also battling his own demons. Matt Cordell (played once again by Robert D'Zar) keeps the body count lower in his second film, but a higher budget and better made film makes the movie just as entrtaining as the first. The movie makers go back to the first in some sense by having another longer and more grusome police station massacre and a police chase scene leads up to the climax scene. Matt Cordell returns to Sing-Sing Prison to confront the men who killed him. The sequel provides the answer to questions left in the first film, such as is Cordell still human or in sense an living dead killer. Maniac Cop 2 will not leave any of this series fans upset.

4.0 out of 5 stars Beggars can't be choosers November 12, 2009
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
The movie itself is top-notch and probably my favorite film in the series, but if you want reviews, go to IMDB.

This dvd is as barebones as they come. It features the awesome special feature that is "scene selections", and that's it. Not even a trailer. But since this film is so rare, it's probably the best version you can find in R1.

4.0 out of 5 stars This Movie IS on DVD In Oz June 16, 2005
Format:VHS Tape
Amazon does not have this movie listed as being available on DVD, but here in Australia it is! (Regioun 4)

I had seen this years ago, but it was a rental on VHS that was overly worn out and the picture & sound was so bad I turned it off halfway through.

When I saw this DVD in the really cheap bin ($3, hows that for cheap?) I thought i'd give it a go, it would only be pocket change i'd lose anyway.

Review:
I expected this to be a bad b-grade horror flick, but I really got into it straight away. It's about a cop named Matt Cordell who was a cop with the NYPD who was setup for something by the head cheif of police or something, and i'm not actualy too sure if he is supposed to be dead, or just scarred or what, but he seems to be a Jason Voorhees style zombie who can't be killed.

Matt Cordell is terrorising the city by killing cops. I guess it's his way of revenge against them or something. Along the way he meets a seriol killer who keeps murdering strippers and they become a forgetable duo.

Comments: A lot of the events taking place where a bit confusing, I guess I will have to see the original Maniac Cop to fully understand what the flash backs are about and in what order, but neither MC1 or MC3 are available here yet.

This is a sequel, and i'm already taking an interest in this saga. It's not brilliant, not exactly original, and the ending of Cordells (supposed) demise I thought was a bit too quick and should have been drawn out with a tighter and bigger ending, but overall, I like it.

If your into Freddy, Jason, Chucky, Myers or those type of charactors, then I recomend this film if you havent already seen it, just give it a go and see what you reckon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Decent sequel to a cult classic horror film July 1, 2010
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I enjoyed Maniac Cop 2. This was a decent sequel to Maniac Cop, starring Bruce Campbell. This movie picks up right where the first film left off. There are some unexpected twists in the story and it is different just enough to stay interesting. In this film Robert Davi does a great job as a main character in this film trilogy. If you liked the first film I can highly recommend that you give this one a viewing. It is better than most sequels tend to be. I have been looking for this movie ever since I bought and watched Maniac Cop. I am glad I was finally able to find it on Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Highly anticipating this blu-ray September 6, 2013
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
I'm rabidly awaiting the release of Maniac Cop 2 on blu-ray as it is my all-time favorite cult horror b-movie. The fact that it's being released by Blue Underground (which has ridiculously high standards of quality) is augmented by the fact that the director of the film is the founder of the company. You just KNOW this one will be great looking. It's just a shame it couldn't be ready in time for Halloween. Lustig has my money on day one for this release!

4.0 out of 5 stars B-Movie Horror Fan?
For many people, you can stop after the name Larry Cohen in the credits. William Lustig directs and his commentary is terrific. This film was "saved" and deserved to be.
