Product Description

Maniac Mansion is a graphical adventure game originally released in 1987 by Lucasfilm Games (now known as LucasArts). Maniac Mansion has become known among video game players and programmers for its highly-acclaimed gameplay and its introduction of new ideas into gaming, including multiple possible endings, multiple user-selectable characters with significantly different abilities, and critical clues contained in numerous cut scenes. At the start of the game, the hero, Dave Miller, finds that his girlfriend, Sandy Pantz, has been abducted by Dr. Fred Edison, and sets out to save her, with two of his friends. The player could select the friends from a group of six, and the game would play somewhat differently depending on which friends were selected. The game was a parody of the horror B-movie genre, featuring a secret lab, leftover tentacles, and an evil mastermind.

Maniac Mansion is one of the most well thought out, clever, funny inventive games ever released and irony has it on the old NES. Maniac Mansion is one reason people still own and run their NES machines. The game is filled with surprises and laughs. Its also nice to play a game which is not rushing you. You can explore and take your time as you uncover the secrets of Maniac Mansion. Give this game a play and you will be glad you did. Wonder what the game play is like? Think FULL THROTTLE, Day of the tentacle, Even Leisure Suite Larry share game elements with Maniac Mansion.

I rented this a million years ago because I thought it had something to do with the maniac mansion TV show (see YouTube). Still not sure. Anyway it took me a few hours to get in the house then I was repeatedly thrown in the dungeon. I immediately loved this game. This game is cool because you can out run the enemies if you're quick with the nes pad which is anxiety causing and hilarious fun. I didn't solve it until I had access to the internet which was many years later. The music is repetitive and amazing. Get this game before they jack the price up!

I fell in love with this game the first time I played it (wayyyyyyy...back....whennnnnn) and can't say I feel any differently now. The music still gives me the creeps...frantically trying to get away from the aliens before they lock me into the dungeon . as a tip...befriend Ed and don't touch his hamster unless he isn't in the room...and don't use the keys in the car (other than the trunk) until the very end of the game! buy it now!!! goodluck and enjoy!

Honestly, this was one of my favorite video games to play as a kid. Sure time has depleted the usage of the NES, but this was one of the greatest roleplaying games of all time. I remember sitting up late on school nights and playing this game. It always involved different kinds of thinking and strategy. The characters in this game each come with their own unique talent and special little niche. This game definately is worth the price. Well, don't take my advice buy it and try it for youself.

This game, originally on PC, is definitely ahead of its time. It offers a cast of characters to choose from, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. There are also multiple endings to the game, depending on which characters you use and what you do. Though set entirely in a spooky mansion, this game offers aliens, dungeons with secret entrances, and more! Very weird and original.

A classic. I really don't feel the mild censorship on this NES version actually hurts the game at all. Still got a bloody chainsaw. I think it says it's ketchup!

I bought this as a gift for my daughter who is now 27 with kids of her own. For Christmas they bought an old Nintendo so I thought it would be fun for her to have one of her games that she loved as a kid. She thought it was great and can't wait for her kids to be old enough to play it.
