Biography

Manic Eden is a short lived 'supergroup', featuring Whitesnake members Adrian Vandenberg, Tommy Aldridge and Rudy Sarzo. Initially the lead singer was James Christian (House Of Lords), he was replaced by Ron Young (Little Caesar). There are no recordings known of James Christian with the band. Some fifteen years after the release of their eponymous album it's a much sought after item.

5.0 out of 5 stars Manic Eden, October 27, 2002

I have recently acquired the cd as I'm a huge Whitesnake fan.I myst say this album is impressive. The grouping initially had James Christian (House of Lords) on vocals joining Adje Vandenberg,Tommy Aldridge and Rudy Sarzo..James left sighting a style too close to Whitesnake...If only Slip Of The Tongue had the blues based rock edge this album has..The vocalist brought in Ron Young (Little Ceasar) does a fine job and the album is full of great grooves and bluesy riffs..There is a fine mix of slower tracks to more raw rock tracks like "When The Hammer Falls Down" and "Pushing Me" I really like "Fire In My Soul and the slower tracks with a "Hendrix" feel "Do Angels Die", "Dark Shade Of Grey"..I recommend this album for lovers of Blues based hard rock..T

3.0 out of 5 stars Ex Whitesnake + ex Little Caesar, September 3, 2003
This review is from: Manic Eden (Audio CD)
Manic Eden might not be that well known because in a way it certainly looks like a side project to Whitesnake, while David Coverdale were busy elsewhere. 3/4 of Manic Eden are ex Whitesnakers - Adrian Vandenberg (guitar), Rudy Sarzo (bass) and Tommy Aldridge (drums). Together with singer Ron Young from Little Caesar the band released only one ignored album in 1994. It's a shame that this album never gained any attention because it's a solid rock effort certainly worth to be checked out. Even though the rock tunes are good, the ballads "Do angels die?", "Dark shade of grey" and "Ride the storm" are even better. If you like Little Caesar you'll absolutely like Manic Eden's blues based hard rock.. Put up 14 bucks and take a chance - sometimes musical curiosity pays!

4.0 out of 5 stars This should of sold bucket loads, January 10, 2006
This review is from: Manic Eden (Audio CD)
Yep, it should of in the humble opinion of this scribe. Straight away you know you've made the right choice when the lead cut of 'Can You Feel It' warbles out of your speakers. Other tracks just build on this good start. It's Adrian Vandenberg on guitar so you know that area is covered - but the rest of the band are pretty darn tasty too - drumming, vocals and bass and it all makes for a great album.

In fact you don't have to be into hard rock to like this album at all. It's a great rock 'n' roll album you can play in most company, no screaming, not too much in the way of squeeling guitars. It's just a solid album. By the way - check out the back catalogue of Vandenburg too - though it is a little 80's tinged if you get my drift.

And definitely an album to throw on while driving down the highway too.
