MANIFESTING 101 is a collection of uplifting short essays that are as easy, fun, and entertaining to read as they are informative. Susan James and six contributors (William Wayne Barnes, Kristen Fox, Tom Haskins, Carol James, Jeri Noble, and John Welsh) share their personal accounts and tips of how they create their lives out of love and joy, rather than feelings of constant struggle and a sensation of being overwhelmed.

James provides playful tools for mastering the requisite skills of reality creation, such as focusing on one's desire for at least seventeen seconds (try writing out it three times with your non-dominant hand). Going beyond the "law of attraction" whereby the universe brings more of what resonates with what we are emoting right to us, MANIFESTING 101 moves on to cover the "laws of allowing", and "laws of deliberate creation". Can we bring anything we truly desire into our lives? The answer is a resounding, "YES!" when we choose to feel good FIRST, and then allow the universe's generous gifts to stream into our lives.

I especially enjoy reading the personal accounts of manifestation in MANIFESTING 101. These true stories provide heart-warming and often humorous descriptions of how we can all learn to get out of our own way when we are creating lives we love. This is more than just an excellent book to read, it's a book you'll be glad to live your life by!

I agree with the other reviewers -- the typos, punctuation errors, and "every" "other" "word" being "in" "quotes" is very annoying. (The reason is that the book is basically self-published, through iUniverse.com.) Some of the information is good, though so far it hasn't added anything to the Abraham material, which is by far a better read...

One thing I found to be a minus in Ms. James' book is the fact that the author says she "has always been open-minded, enthusiastic, optimistic." Okay, that's great, but optimists naturally have an easier time attracting what they want because they start out with positive vibrations; they don't have to overcome all the negative thinking that most of us seeking to learn how to manifest have to first learn to overcome. For me, this translated much like a rich person saying how easy it is to be rich when (s)he has never known what it is to be poor--perhaps of some value, but probably not to most who are reading the book.

Instead, I would recommend Sharon Warren's "Manifesting Your Heart's Desires." Although not the epitome of great writing, it does have great enthusiasm (if you can get past all the "yummy"s) and provides more solid information. Plus the magnets are not only a visual demonstration of Law of Attraction, but they're fun to play with! Also Lynn Grabhorn's "Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting."

Best of all, however, are the actual Abraham-Hicks materials themselves, as mentioned above. (And no, I don't get any kickbacks for recommending them...I just find the information very helpful.) The tapes are especially useful; I listen during my daily commute, whereas I might not otherwise find time to sit down and read.

Basically, I would sum up by saying this: how glad I am that I only checked out "Manifesting 101" at the public library.

This book is full of great things! I received it in the mail this morning and had finished it this afternoon. I intend on reading it many more times. Susan James is wonderful and this book will teach you how to change your life. I highly recommend it and also Lynn Grabhorn's "Excuse Me, Your Life is Waiting".

If you can get past every other word being "in quotes", and lots and lots of typos, this book has some decent information within it (mostly from quotes and exercises taken from other printed material). It's a decent book, however. It would REALLY be worth it for the author to have a professional editor look it over, however.

Excellent book!! Too many type-O's, but I would read it continueously. The ways to manifest and create need to be drilled into everyone's thoughts and used daily. I highly recommend it.

If you are interested in the Science of Deliberate Creation, Law of Allowing, Manifesting your "Rockets of Desire", and other terminology and techniques, you would be interested in their source material...Abraham-Hicks.com. This is not an endorsement nor advertising, simply referring to the origin of many of their ideas, in case they didn't credit them. Wonderful, life changing perspective...unlike anything you've ever read. Nearly negates the need for philosophy, since it handles very directly and simply many of the perennial philosophical conundrums.

Susan James not only tells you that it is possible to Create your own future success; she shows you exactly how to do it. I had heard about this book for a long time, but when I finally got the opportunity to read it, my life changed--for the better. Things I had dreamed of for years, now I realized that they were within my reach. Since reading the book, I have had more success with my own writing career than I ever thought possible. Things that I had "wanted" were suddenly "available." As I put into action ways to actually achieve success in many areas of my life, they first went up onto my "wall" in pictures of them. Then they began to move off the wall, as one-by-one they became reality. There are still a lot of things I'm reaching for, but at least now I know how high I have to stand on my tip-toes to get to them.

I read a lot of metaphysics and physics and this book is good for the reader needing a simpler view of life. The Abraham Hicks material is very compelling and empowering. If you want deeper information of the whys, whats, etc. read Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot and go from there....Abraham has a lot of cool things to say, Holographic Universe will give you the willies because of the deep truths in the book. You decide. Warm and fuzzies=Abraham info, Heebie Jeebies and Deep Deep Truth=Holographic Universe.

Yep, those who chose to focus on typos found them! Since the
first edition the book has been re-edited simply because it sold
so many books that it qualified for a face lift from IUniverse,
and won an Editors Choice Award, as well as The Star Program.

The people that will benefit the most from this first book, are
the ones that choose to look beyond the level of typo's. Its
this book and the material w/in it, that has built my business.
And the info for the Manifesting Basics, for those that choose
to APPLY it is quite clear, and works!

The newest edition is the one now available on Amazon etc.
and the first edition now qualifies for *collectors items*.

James pulls it all together and simplifies the concept of manifestation. The book is easy to read and packed with energy. This book is for those who follow New Thought, Religious Science and other groups involved with self-actualizion.
