I too have seen the PBS Special along with the concert Manilow Music & Passion in person. This concert duplicates his live show perfectly and it is nothing short of fabulous. Barry is his usual self and the energy he shows during this concert especially at the end is amazing. I did not find his interaction with the audiance to be any less during this concert compared to any others. In fact he is much more energetic during this performance. The price on Amazon is a bargain considering that to receive this DVD from PBS they were requiring a pledge of $120.00. The amazon price is a bargain.

Barry's phenomenal high-energy Manilow Mega-Vegas extravaganza! With over 27 superb musical arrangements, spanning approximately 1 ¾ hours, Barry croons our favorites, like the eternally sexy "Somewhere in the Night." He does a super-cool rendition of Mandy where he plays and sings along with a video clip of himself from his very early days. Wait till you hear the `50s "Bandstand Boogie" and "Venus," with Barry Avalonio, not to mention "Love is a Many Splendored Thing" and "Unchained Melody"! You'll see a big stage Vegas set come down from the ceiling in Copacabana, `cause it is cookin'! Barry's got fans rockin' in the audience from age 20 to 120 for this show, as a matter of fact, they hardly ever sit down! He does this DVD so well, you feel like you have a front row seat and he's singing directly to you.

And if all that's not enough, there's a 2nd DVD, almost an hour long, full of behind-the-scenes extras, like tours, interviews, rehearsal, stage setup, photos, and three additional song clips. Whaddah sweet deal! This guy just keeps getting better all the time, a magnificent DVD from a super guy who truly values his fans. Just when you were happy with the 110 % he always gives, he raises the bar to 130 % !

No wonder this DVD set hit 3 times platinum barely a month after it's release! "Doctor, they won't have ta give ya something to get that feelin' again" if you get this DVD! And you'll want to watch it over and over again.

PS--This makes a great gift for somebody who loves Manilow Musik!

This concert is great.PBS,has again out did themselves.A really good show,with a lot of flair and energy.Barry still can deliver the goods.The sound and video is superb.My hat goes off to the engineers,bravo I highly recommend this dvd and again ,Thank You PBS!!!!From Stewart L.

Admittedly,I am a fan. Not a real huge fan,you know the kind, but hey, I like his music. Don't have many of his albums, in fact come to think of it, I don't have any. I used to, but not anymore. Nevertheless, this concert I enjoyed. Its all Vegas, which you can't complain about. Great sets, excellent acoustics, brilliant clear pictures. All good. The concert itself, I thought was great. I felt like I was part of the show. I was involved with the stories and right into the music.
I've read the reviews and adding mine to the mix I would have to say it's well worth having your own copy. I don't believe anyone would be disappointed, in fact the opposite. Its a brilliant show, well worth repeating time and time again.
Highly recommended, just seat back and enjoy the music and passion.

If you are in any way a Barry Manilow fan, or a "Fanilow", you better not miss this one! I can be super critical sometimes, but watching this DVD is just a pure joy! Barry has decided that he will tour no more, so if your like me and can't afford a trip to Las Vegas to see him in person this is our treat. It is a very well put together show and is very entertaining from start to finish. The second DVD is icing on the cake! It's a "how it's done" story of the concert or show if you wish and well worth the watch. Those who say the were disappointed in this DVD must have had a bad day. My advice is watch it again. I have been a Barry Manilow fan since before he was famous and I still think he is the "ultimate showman!" Try it...you'll like it!

I had the honor and pleasure of being at this particular concert (the special taping for PBS) and this DVD captures the magic that was happening there live. Barry just gets better and better and this DVD does not disappoint, either for casual listeners or true "Fanilows"!

It was awesome to see Barry perform songs from "Here at the Mayflower" and from his latest "Greatest Songs of the Fifties" CD. His backup dancers/singers are delightful and the band is first-rate. This DVD is a must-own!

I wouldn't normally have reviewed this disc, but considering the only review was from a disgruntled XBox owner, I had to throw in my two cents. I have encountered absolutely NO difficulty playing this disc on my Toshiba player.

Here's a great concert. I had this one on regular DVD, and this one blows out the conventional DVD. You can count the beads of sweat on Barry's forehead. The widescreen picture will fill a wide set, and the music is presented in 4.0 surround (meaning there's no added pounding bass) and it's pretty much enhanced stereo.

The set of music is very strong with the highlights being the two tracks taken from Manilow's HARMONY score. "Every Single Day" is amazing, and a choir comes in to take on "Stars In The Night." Barry does a nice selection of hits and album cuts (I was very happy with the inclusion of "All The Time" which he rarely performed in concert "back in the day"). You will not feel slighted.

In the end, great picture, great show, great purchase for pop and Manilow fans. The disc has got a nice price tag, too.

Barry still has it after 32 years! I have seen him live 18 times
in that time period, and he NEVER fails to deliver. I have been to many concerts, some VERY good, but NO ONE can touch Manilow
as a live performer. Since I don't know if I'll ever be able to
afford a trip to Vegas, this DVD is the next best thing, perhaps
even better as I have "The best seat in the house" in my living
room! The "Music and Passion" show is excellent, and the added
"Vegas Glitz" (lighting and costumes)makes for nice "eye candy" as well. The DVD sound quality is awesome, the band really cooks,
and while Barry's voice is (naturally) not the same as when he was younger, many times it does sound exactly the same as then, but it also now has a richer, deeper sound (like a fine wine) that compliments the emotion of his many songs. Don't forget he is not just the consumate showman, but an amazing arranger and
composer...every note of music you hear, Manilow is "ultimately"
responsible for. Barry is showing Vegas how it's done!!

This concert blew me away! It was dazzling! It was the greatest show he has ever done! I liked the Brooklyn Blues medley, and the Copacabana .... no words can describe how great it was. I originally saw it on PBS but couldn't stand the constant interruptions so I bought the DVD, it is worth ever bit of purchase price and then some. I hope they do a CD for this as I have the DVD for home and would definitely buy the CD for my car. As I watched the DVD at home i couldn't tear myself away from it. It was great Barry, you are great Barry I hope you are around forever.

I have seen Barry in Vegas and I was not disappointed with the show but only that it had to end. This DVD brings exactly what you get in Vegas. I couldn't wait to get Music and Passion. I can't stop watching it. Barry never disappoints his true fans. All I can say that is those who have put his music down in the past do not know what Barry is all about. Barry never gave up and "It Looks Like He Made It." I can't wait to go back to Vegas to see it again but until then I have the DVD.
