This is a detailed look at the up-and-down life of writer Herman Mankiewicz. I was especially interested in the chapters on his work on Citizen Kane. I think this is well-written and I recommend it to anyone interested in this fascinating person.

I read "Mank" years ago. I loaned my book to a friend, but it was never returned. Had been meaning to order another copy, but thought it was out of print. Went to Amazon and found an author-signed copy. For anyone interested in movie history, pick up a copy. You'll learn that Orson Welles was not the only reason for the success of "Citizen Kane". It's a terrific read.

I love reading about that talented family. I had previously read his nephew's book, which led to this purchase.
Fun and delightful read!
