4.0 out of 5 stars Better than solid
Every song on this album is above average, and that in itself makes it worth listening to. There isn't another band like them right now. 3.0 out of 5 stars A little dissapointed
I had read all of the reviews for this album and bought it used through this cite and I was dissapointed. I am a huge follower of grunge and worship bands like STP, AIC, and Soundgarden so if I even hear them referenced in a review I buy it. Don't get me wrong this album is good. And Pann does sound like what you would get if you surgecially fused Chris Cornell and Layne...

Every song on this album is above average, and that in itself makes it worth listening to. There isn't another band like them right now. I was originally interested in them because two of the guys in the band were in an old Bay Area thrash band named Forbidden, but this is light-years from that band. The singer sounds like Dylan Donkin of Echobrain, and goes by the name "Pann," leading me to believe he might be the same guy. If it's not Donkin, they sound so much alike it's spooky. The production is sound, the musicianship is tight, and the songs are infectious and heavy. Solid, distinctive music. My favorite disc so far in 2003.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Breath of fresh air to the Metal/Hard Rock genre, August 30, 2003
By
This review is from: Manmade God (Audio CD)
When you first hear ManmadeGod you might think that they are just another entry in what appears to be an already overcrowded genre of Metal/Hard Rock but after you listen to their self-titled album a little furter you will realize that ManmadeGod is simply a great band waiting to be heard.

Their music reminds me of The Doors mixed with a little Soundgarden and a touch of Stone Temple Pilots in their early years.

Some of the best cuts on the album are "Safe Passage", "Swamp Water", and "Bad Creation" however the highlight of the album is "Lizard Bones" this song is simply one of the best songs I have heard in a long time.

In a genre filled with Groups that are all starting to sound the same, ManmadeGod stands out above the rest at this point in time.

Definitely worth taking a listen to.

5.0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER CASUALITY, March 20, 2005
This review is from: Manmade God (Audio CD)
I had to write this. have loved this album for 2 years now and am so disappointed to hear that they are no more. this band had the potential to be huge! just good old school rock with a twist of metal and blues. but a great vocalist, excellent songwriting and class musicians. what a shame. i was eagerly awaiting a follow up and now that hope is gone. Anyone within earshot would be a fool not to buy this classic. they will be sorely missed in a community and musical atmosphere that could no longer tolerate nurturing. such a shame. the only saving grace could be a "forbidden" reunion with the members now having the opportunity. but i am still in disbelief that this album went unnoticed and the members could not see fit to stick it out with so many different ways to release music (independant, internet sharing ect.). very disheartening..

4.0 out of 5 stars Begins to grow on you, July 30, 2004
This review is from: Manmade God (Audio CD)
I had bought this a few months back and I was expecting something along the lines of (maybe let's say Forbidden) only because the guitarist and drummer are both from that great underground bay area band. But it does not. At first I felt like I blew my money then after a few listens I had got into Pangs voice. Sounds like Chris Cornell. Which is a good thing. This album reminds my the whole grunge thing. Very catchy melodic vocals. Very straight foward rock. Repeat there is no new ground broken here. Just good rock.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic new band., September 6, 2003

I am a rock DJ. I hear 500 songs that sound the same every time I enter the station. Manmade God is a band that deserves a load of credit. Reminicent of the 70s as well as the early 90s (the best part of the 90s) but highly original, this disc is great for anyone who wants to hear something that hasn't been turned into horse form, killed, and beaten.

Don't let people tell you that Safe Passage, the single, is the best song - it is actually the worst (but still very good). The whole album is exponentially better than Safe Passage. Choice cuts: Swamp Water, Search for Greater Things, and Meet My Maker.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, great band, March 23, 2005
This review is from: Manmade God (Audio CD)
This 2003 release is a great album full of catchy but raw songs. It's sad that this album has been ignored by virtually everyone in the music community. I try sending songs of them to my friends, and the reviews are usually very good by them. Sad to know they've broken up after just this one album.

This could be the love child of Soundgarden and Nickelback. Although not as good as the former they're probably better than the latter. Band extremely solid. Pann was born to sing.

Great Band - Hard Grooves, Dynamic Songs, One of a kind. Sad to hear they disbanded. Spiralarms is an offshoot of this band.
It's addicting- hear it once, you enjoy it-listen to it any more than that and your hooked.

I had read all of the reviews for this album and bought it used through this cite and I was dissapointed. I am a huge follower of grunge and worship bands like STP, AIC, and Soundgarden so if I even hear them referenced in a review I buy it. Don't get me wrong this album is good. And Pann does sound like what you would get if you surgecially fused Chris Cornell and Layne Staley. It's just like the whole way through the album I can't help but my feel like somebody needs to kick this band in the ass and get 'em goin. You can tell that they are capable of some great thrashing retro grunge music, instead they stick to slow choppy riffs and play off of Pann's voice. It does sound good and it is very melodic, it is just frustrating when you know this could be so much better. In reality this review might be tainted with this frustration. It is a good ROCK album but don't let anyone tell you it is grunge. Pann sounds grunge NOT Manmade God. The best songs are "safe passage" Which is the most grunge inspired as far as the rockers go. "Pulp" and "Lizard bones" come close, but the best song is "Meet my Maker" that damn bridge will be stuck in your head for days. "meet my maker, shake his hand tell he..." well you'll see.
