Not bad, not bad at all,
This review is from: Manmade Monster (Audio CD)
I found this CD when I was searching for Misfit-esqe type music. I listened to the snipits on Amazon, read the reviews, and went for it. It's actually pretty impressive! It reminds me and my wife of early era Misfits. When I had it playing in my living room, my wife thought it was the Misfits and was wondering why she'd never heard those songs before! All in all, I think it's pretty good. The one and only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because they sound TOO much like the Misfits. I enjoy that genre of music and the bands that go with it (Calabrese, Crimson Ghosts, etc), but it's one thing to be influenced by a band (Misfits) and another to try to be that band.

i have to first say i love the Misfits, the originals, and the michael graves era as well, saying that, if you didn't know better you would think this a classic combining of the two, problem is this is NOT the misfits, yes, i do like the cd, but put it this way, if there were no misfits, there would be no plan 9....catchy effort but its like listening to a cover band with original songs...they even have covers on there as well....interesting.

I only got this CD (well, the MP3s) because I was looking for bands similar to the Misfits and Samhain. I wasn't really impressed when I first heard them, and my only favorite songs were their Misfits/Samhain cover songs (Teenagers from Mars, We Bite, etc.). I thought they sounded good, but didn't think there was anything special about them.Within time, after only hearing the album a few more times, I've come to really appreciate them. 'War of the Worlds', 'Manmade Monster', and 'Undead' are a few of my favorite songs now. I was really looking forward to finding other stuff on the Internet, only to find out the lead singer died. I was really bummed. I honestly can't get enough of this group now. I personally feel the lead singer's voice is pretty close to being as good as Danzig, and probably better than Graves (definitely better than Jerry Only). The lyrics are awesome, and are definitely not cheesy like some of the horror punk bands I've heard. In my opinion, they're definitely a lot more like the Misfits of the Danzig era than anything else. For ony $9, it's definitely worth the download. Look up some of their stuff on YouTube too. They have a video for "Undead". Plan 9 stuff is hard to find online since there are other groups out there with the same name. I consider myself a fan now, and am hoping they will keep making new stuff or tour in my area someday.
