I learned about these filters on one of the BMW forums. They are half the cost of other activated charcoal filters and are a direct replacement for the OEM filters. Changing these filters is easier than changing your wiper blades - no need to go to the mechanic.

But... Make sure you understand which way the air flows! The arrow on the filters should be pointing down towards the ground.

As others stated this product has been changed and no longer uses a plastic frame. I don't understand why they can't make a filter that properly fits the existing plastic frame.

These filters DO NOT fit well in my 1998 528i sedan. The filter is slightly (1mm?) too wide and the sides bunch up, so there are little areas on the side where the filter will be bypassed. Probably better than the old filters that were there 1+ year. I won't bother to return, but I will not buy this Mann filter again even if the alternatives cost more.
