A very good retrospective,

Made in AUS in 2000, Serial# RVCD-102, Playing Time: 154 min.I don't have much to add to the editorial review as well as the review written prior to mine: both excellent! I believe a few additional notes should round up this item: the 24-page booklet written by guitarist Tom McGuinness in 2000 offers a truly interesting biography of the band; the sound restoration on this 2-disc set is excellent (using SBM), and the selection of material offers a wide-spread view of the artists' musical genres, and includes tracks up to the "Smith & D'Abo" album released in 1976. Of special mention is track 21 on disc 2, "Ski - Full Of Fitness" theme, a gem almost impossible to find elsewhere. This set is a definite "must" amongst the dozens of other compilations available out there!

What an excellent couple of hours this two cd compilation provides. I remember Manfred Mann for the hits but I had no idea they could play the blues with such expertise. This double cd really covers a lot ie: 60's blues rock, pop, even some protest songs. If you are like me and love the 60"s British Invasion this is a must have. The remastering can't be beat! Also recommend Yardbirds "Ultimate" and Kinks"BBC sessions" as well as Nuggets 2, load up your changer and set to random- EXCELLENT

'60's Brit invasion included this So. African hit makers. Manfred Mann (1) had quintessential hits like "54321", "Sha La La", and the big fun of "Do Wah Diddy". Like most Brit Invasion bands, they recorded American girl group songs (Do Wah Diddy was first recorded by Exciters! Oh No Not My Baby by Maxine Brown),faster and with enthusiasm. Manfred Mann (1) had access to the Bob Dylan songbook that no one else wanted. They recorded "With God on Our Side","If You Gotta Go, Go Now", etc..as pop songs, not folk. Manfred Mann got "My Little Red Book" at the movies. The last hit by Manfred Mann (1) was the hymn, "Pretty Flamingo"
Manfred Mann (2) started 1968 with another lost Dylan song, "Mighty Quinn", their biggest hit. "Fox on the Run" came close but was covered by Sweet, a latter day 1970's quest for pop perfection. There were no more top 40 hits for Manfred Mann (2) after 1968. This two CD set has all the hits and misses. True stereo for the first time on CD. This is welcome and neccessary for those who believe in the dum diddy do,
