If you like ice skating and Christmas and the music of the Mannheim Steamrollers, plus the skating of Dorothy Hamill, then you will love the DVD of this Television Special. There are some pretty great special effects, the colors are fabulous, and of course, the skating done by some of the greatest ice skaters from around the world, is wonderful.

This Dvd contains a story written by Chip Davis. The story is performed on ice by skaters. The music of Mannheim Steamroller is absolutely magnificent when choreographed with the skating sequences. That is what makes this a work of art.
It seems a lot like a Christmas fairy tale on ice! It has spectacular music and some beautiful special effects.
Truly Unique and yet "another" masterpiece from the artful hands of Chip Davis.
So, if you like ice skating and the music of Mannheim Steamroller, then this is the DVD for you!
Just keep in mind that this is not a concert, but a well-put-together Christmas show.
It is 45 mins. of magic. The story is told by Chip Davis and Olivia Newton John, as parents reading a book to their children. This DVD stars Dorothy Hamill and Elvis Stojko.
This is a beautiful story for parents and children alike, and will probably be a very enjoyable experience for you!
Chip Davis is the genius behind Mannheim Steamroller and is the "main man" behind this production! ENJOY!

Thoroughly enjoyable DVD. I have long followed the skaters and skating shows. So I am familiar with the cast of this show. The addition of Mannheim Steamroller music adds to its uniqueness. I bought a sample of this DVD last year and decided I must have the complete show. Well executed wih a cute story line. Randy Gardner's choreography is amazing.

when i saw this on TV the first time i knew i had to own it. its Dorothy at her absolute best. she is a gem in the skating world and she really shines in this production, along with the wonderful cast and my favorite Christmas music. we watch it every holiday season as well as throughout the year. thanks, Chip!

This was an excellent production and enjoyed by our 8 and 10 year old grand daughters. We previewed the DVD first and then prior to showing it to our grand daughters talked about good and evil in life and that there was good and evil in what they were going to see. We thought the devil looking skaters would bother them.

This DVD is now a Christmas standard in our family. I bought it originally just being a Chip Davis fan. But this year I bought a second copy for the gkids to have. Most of the adults in the family will sit and watch it. Though basically a fairy tale, this movie actually includes a family setting and the reading the story. Having Olympic skaters is just a stroke of genius. They do a great job.

Have been a fan of the versatile Mannheim Steamroller for years, and bought this on that basis. Was not prepared for a highly professional staging of what could have been a boring storyline.
Elvis Stojko, Dorothy Hamel and Rudy Galindo, as the leads, are well known for their excellent skating talents, but they showed great acting ability as well. the quality of the supporting cast was excellent. The costuming, sets and special effects were absolutely top-notch for its time, and better than some of the modern productions. I was very sorry I did not know about this when it came out originally, but the joy of sorting through Amazon is the jewels I find, and this is one.
I didn't see the point of the introduction with Olivia Newton-John, unless it was to add unnecessary "star-attraction." It interfered with the continuity of the skating production. Other than that, this is a keeper!Mannheim Steamroller - The Christmas Angel: A Story on Ice [VHS]

Wholesome story for all the family. If you enjoy Ballet and Ice Skating, you will really like this one! The end of the story was weak, should have been a bit more dramatic. All in All, pretty good.

GREAT ALBUM! Not quite as BIG as Trans Siberian but still a keeper!

While my family is a BIG fan of Mannheim Steamroller and of figure skating and also think the character lineup and story line and choreography of this production is great, the production quality of this DVD is absolutely pathetic. There are 3 areas on this disc that break up so badly, as if there was a bad rainstorm while watching satellite TV, that we thought that the disc itself was flawed. We complained to Amazon and they kindly gave is a free return label and immediately sent us another new DVD. Well, the new DVD was identical in every flawed detail to the first one. The producers and marketers of this DVD have a lot to learn about quality control and customer satisfaction. I am following up this review with an attempt to contact the producers and get them to do the right thing but it will probably be a fruitless task. We are just thankful to Amazon for their efforts in trying to correct bad product concern.
