5.0 out of 5 stars Wish I were ine of the Manning's friends
Debbie writes the books from her heart to the readers heart and her books are simply wonderful. I have read approximately 25 of her wonderful warm and friendly books and just want more and more of them. The characters are people you wish you lived near and had as friends. The towns and neighborhoods she writes about are the all American dream towns. If our towns were...

3.0 out of 5 stars Quick and easy read.
Did not realize this was a harlequin romance. Storyline was predictable and expected.

Read only if you need to escape from your own life for a couple of hours.

The towns and neighborhoods she writes about are the all American dream towns. If our towns were even close to the towns she writes about this would be a better world.

My hats off to the fabulous Ms Macomber.

4.0 out of 5 stars feelgood Macomber again, June 5, 2011
This review is from: The Manning Grooms: Bride On The Loose\Same Time, Next Year (Mass Market Paperback)
Bride on the Loose: Jason Manning, middle Manning brother, confirmed bachelor, slob and sports fan. Charlotte Weston, prim and proper executive assistant and divorced mother of 9th grader, Carrie. What happens when Carrie offers to pay Jason to date her mom? While the sparks fly, so do Cupid's arrows. Will Eric and Elizabeth manning finally get to organise the big fancy wedding they have so very much wanted to, but missed out on with two sons and two daughters?
Same Time, Next Year: James Wilkens, almost a Manning groom, almost married Christie Manning. A year later, James is in Las Vegas on New Year's Eve when he meets Summer Lawton, newly broken-hearted. He promises her she will be over it in a year, and they arrange to meet Same Time Next Year. Surprisingly for both of them, they end up married. But James is a Supreme Court Judge and budding politician, and Summer feels that her career as a singer/actress will adversely affect his future prospects. Elizabeth, Eric and several of the other Mannings make an appearance. Macomber leaves us feeling good, once again.

3.0 out of 5 stars The Manning Grooms, May 20, 2011
This review is from: The Manning Grooms: Bride On The Loose\Same Time, Next Year (Mass Market Paperback)
I haven't read the first two books, so this was the first book in the series that I read. I don't think people need to read the first two to get an understanding of what happened unless they want to know the backstories of the other couples. Anyway, back to the main reason of this review. I quite enjoyed Jason and Charlotte's romance more than James and Summer's. From my opinion, Bride on the Loose (Jason and Charlotte) was better because I actually felt emotions from the characters, and the story was realistic. I am not saying James and Summer's story wasn't realistic either because true people can get married in a short time of meeting each other, but I just didn't connect with the characters. I tried very hard to, but it wasn't clicking. I liked James and Summer's personalities, but their romance left me feeling indifferent. I didn't give a high score on this because it's not that I didn't enjoy the stories, but I didn't like how everything went a bit too quickly, in my opinion. Maybe that's why I couldn't connect with James and Summer's story because everything went too fast to actually relate and feel something for them. With Jason and Charlotte, their story was also fast paced, but the speed at which it developed was steadily stable instead of finger-snapping quick.

This book was a great finished to the series that was written. I would highly recommend buying all the novels and readying them. I could not wait. I tried to make sure I had all the books at the same time, because its like watching a movie. You want to make sure you can get the next one. Great writing, romance, love, and family togetherness. It was a great book.

5.0 out of 5 stars When I fall in love, August 8, 2010
This review is from: The Manning Grooms: Bride On The Loose\Same Time, Next Year (Mass Market Paperback)
If you start with this book first put it down and go read the Manning Sisters first and then the Manning Brides because The Manning Grooms won't make much sense to you. The third book in the Manning series is about Jason Manning and James Wilkens. I always like to put a song to my reviews and I have chosen "When I fall in Love" the Letterman's version in 1962. The first lyrics fit Jason and Charlotte "When I fall in love it will be forever or I'll never fall in love. In a restles world like this is Love is ended before it's begun and too many moonlight kisses seem to cool in the warmth of the sun...". Charlotte's first husband only married her for her money. He did not love her. In order to explain why he had affairs was that Charlotte was like a corpse when they made love. And Charlotte, this samrt women believed him. Jason on the other hand finds Charlotte a challenge and because men need to be needed he falls hard for her. Charlotte to her surprise finds that that creep of a husband lied.

James Wilkens was jilted by Christy Manning. She broke his heart. Five years later he meets Summer Lawton in Las Vegas as she is jilted by her future husband. James and Summer make a deal to write letters and meet at the same place in Vegas a year later. This is where the 2nd stanza to When I fall in love comes "When I give my heart, it will be completely, or I'll never give my heart and the moment I can feel that you feel that way too, Is when I fall in love with you". James come out of his comfort zone when he falls in love with Summer who is nine years his Junior. You will have to read the book to see what happens next. Of course it ends in a typical Debbie Macomber ending.
