Charlene Elizabeth Green (AKA Hustle Diva on the poetry scene) is a Northern California native who has been writing since very early childhood, penning short stories and poetry, but never thinking of it as more than a hobby. Her first major writing project was a movie screenplay written in 1999 titled Love's Train, which was based on a short story with the same title that she wrote in a creative-writing class in junior college. She taught herself the scriptwriting craft, and while working a full-time job with the California Dept. of Corrections (at the time) wrote every night, many times into the wee hours of the morning, until the project was finished. It took a little over a month. Up until that point, her passion for writing lay dormant, but after completing her script, she realized it was her calling.
In 2001, while [still] in the process of searching for a producer for her movie, she began working on her first novel, One Man's Treasure. With aspirations to be immersed in the entertainment and literary industries, she made the decision to relocate to Los Angeles, and did so in 2003. After completing her novel, she connected with publisher, author, and philanthropist Dr. Rosie Milligan, whom she sought out for agency representation. Dr. Milligan liked One Man's Treasure so much that she immediately took her on as a client. During that time, their relationship grew, and Charlene developed an interest in editing and proofreading. In 2005, she began an internship working as a copy editor and proofreader for Dr. Milligan. Her first major [joint] editing project was rapper/producer Dr. Dre's mother Verna Griffin's autobiography titled Privileged to Live. She further interned for literary agent and best-selling author Dr. Maxine Thompson (currently Charlene's literary agent, as of 2008) as a copy editor and story editor. In 2006, she started her own editing business, Punctuality Editing Service.
In May 2007, after several years attempting to have her novel published mainstream, Charlene took matters into her own hands and self-published One Man's Treasure through Milligan Books. Then, as fate would have it, in December 2007, Dr. Maxine Thompson presented her with the opportunity to have OMT picked up mainstream, and in January 2008 was offered a two-book deal with Kensington Publishing. One Man's Treasure was released internationally on April 1, 2009, and the sequel, And They'll Come Home, is scheduled for release in March 2010.
Since moving to L.A., Charlene has revisited her talent for writing poetry, and expanded her collection of works. To date, she has over 50 pieces in her portfolio. Though she dabbled briefly in the open-mic scene in 2004/2005, she felt unprepared and inexperienced, and decided to step away and spend more time writing and honing her skills. In April 2008, she was bitten hard by the bug when she entered a spoken-word contest at the annual Black Writers on Tour convention, not having done any open mic in over 3 years, and never from memory, and took 4th place after having competed with more than 20 poets. Many of them have been on the scene for years. From there, she bombarded the open-mic venues with fervor, adding spoken-word artist to her list of talents. Charlene has been known to frequent the local Los Angeles poetry venues at least five nights a week, inspiring hundreds with her unique words, and gaining exposure. She has also hosted several events as well as performed in many shows and done speaking engagements after having been seen and approached by some of those whose lives she has touched.
Charlene is also a gifted motivational speaker who has been praised for her ability to encourage people to pursue things in their lives they were otherwise daunted by the thought of doing, by helping them see the ways in which they can proceed without feeling overwhelmed.
Currently, in addition to promoting her novels, Charlene is also promoting her self-published wares, including her three-part poetry-book series titled From Me to You...Through Mine Eyes, and her self-help career guide titled You Are What You Say You Are: Claiming Your Life's Mission and Living Your Dream. She is also preparing for her national spoken-word tour. Her first spoken-word CD, She Is Poetry, was released in December 2009, and she is still pursuing the long-awaited production of her movie, Love's Train.

Katrice Vincent is tired of heartache and has focused her attention on her beauty shop. Katrice's cynical view of men originated as a teen due to an embarrassing rejection of Royce Phillip Jordan III. Royce was her childhood crush and she's placed her fascination for him in the back recesses of her mind and heart.
When Weston Porter confidently enters her shop with one lady in his eyesight, Katrice is stunned as well as hesitant to take a chance on him in all of his arrogance. Weston is one fine and determined man that's about his business in every sense of the word. He's watched Katrice, likes her style and wants to delve into what she's really about. Rumors of Weston's past plagues the blossoming relationship between the two.
One Man's Treasure proved to be a captivating read with charming characters that treasure friendships, love, and life in realistic settings with spontaneity and reckless abandon! Will these two find love in the midst of misconceptions, ill gotten words and past associations? Find out if Katrice's mistrust of Weston's swag is ill-gotten or has some semblance of truth. Love, lust, infidelity, betrayal, friendship, are just a few things that will appeal to you in this engaging love story. 4.38****

I finally bought this book after debating whether I wanted it for several months. This was such a good story and I was pleasantly surprised.
Katrice Vincent is a Salon Owner and Weston Porter is a personal trainer. The meet and although the attraction is immediate, Katrice is not quick to accept a date with him. From the stories she heard and the few times she has seen him out and about, Katrice thinks Weston is a player. Weston refuses to take no for answer to his advances towards Katrice and a serious relationship develops.
Although Katrice is sure she loves Weston and wants to make a life with him, she can't shake an obsession from her past. Unexpectedly the opportunity presented to allow Katrice to come to terms with her obsession. She readily takes the chance not thinking of the damage it will cause her budding relationship with Weston. The stuff truly hits the fan, when Weston finds out what she has done and their relationship is torn apart.
Months later Weston (realizing he really doesn't want to try to live without Katrice) comes back to see if they can make things work. Katrice is overjoyed to be given a second chance with the man she truly loves, but this time he has some baggage of his own that will require a lot of faith, compassion, maturity and understanding to deal with.
This story was truly a page turner and very realistic. I definitely recommend it and I can't wait to read the sequel.
