4.0 out of 5 stars 'Oh There You Go...Bringing Back...Those Old Memories...Things Done In The Past...', May 2, 2010
This review is from: One Man's Treasure (Urban Soul Presents) (Paperback)
Katrice Vincent is tired of heartache and has focused her attention on her beauty shop. Katrice's cynical view of men originated as a teen due to an embarrassing rejection of Royce Phillip Jordan III. Royce was her childhood crush and she's placed her fascination for him in the back recesses of her mind and heart.

When Weston Porter confidently enters her shop with one lady in his eyesight, Katrice is stunned as well as hesitant to take a chance on him in all of his arrogance. Weston is one fine and determined man that's about his business in every sense of the word. He's watched Katrice, likes her style and wants to delve into what she's really about. Rumors of Weston's past plagues the blossoming relationship between the two.

One Man's Treasure proved to be a captivating read with charming characters that treasure friendships, love, and life in realistic settings with spontaneity and reckless abandon! Will these two find love in the midst of misconceptions, ill gotten words and past associations? Find out if Katrice's mistrust of Weston's swag is ill-gotten or has some semblance of truth. Love, lust, infidelity, betrayal, friendship, are just a few things that will appeal to you in this engaging love story. 4.38****

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Story!!, November 27, 2009
This review is from: One Man's Treasure (Urban Soul Presents) (Paperback)
I finally bought this book after debating whether I wanted it for several months. This was such a good story and I was pleasantly surprised.

Katrice Vincent is a Salon Owner and Weston Porter is a personal trainer. The meet and although the attraction is immediate, Katrice is not quick to accept a date with him. From the stories she heard and the few times she has seen him out and about, Katrice thinks Weston is a player. Weston refuses to take no for answer to his advances towards Katrice and a serious relationship develops.

Although Katrice is sure she loves Weston and wants to make a life with him, she can't shake an obsession from her past. Unexpectedly the opportunity presented to allow Katrice to come to terms with her obsession. She readily takes the chance not thinking of the damage it will cause her budding relationship with Weston. The stuff truly hits the fan, when Weston finds out what she has done and their relationship is torn apart.

Months later Weston (realizing he really doesn't want to try to live without Katrice) comes back to see if they can make things work. Katrice is overjoyed to be given a second chance with the man she truly loves, but this time he has some baggage of his own that will require a lot of faith, compassion, maturity and understanding to deal with.

This story was truly a page turner and very realistic. I definitely recommend it and I can't wait to read the sequel.

4.0 out of 5 stars a realistic romance, November 12, 2009
This review is from: One Man's Treasure (Urban Soul Presents) (Paperback)
i was really feeling this book. it wasnt farfectched like so many other books that i read. i'm a omance addict but it bothers me when you have everything set in a situaton that you know would never happen in real life. the only reason i gave this book four stars and not five is because the female lead in the book is stupid and self absorbed (she couldn't handle the one time in her life that she was rejected and almost ruined a perfectly good realtionship as a result). i've had it for a while now and am reading it again now.

This book had me laughing at the antics of the girlfriends, crying over a choice made by the main character and satisfied with the way things ended. It was a full meal that I really enjoyed and can't wait to read Charlene's next one. Keep it coming.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is ONE Of The BEST Books That I've EVER Read!!!!, July 6, 2010

I ABSOLUTELY loved it! One Man's Treasure had me on an emotional rollercoaster! The author's writing was so on point that I felt like I was Katrice! When Katrice cried, I cried, when she laughed, I laughed. When she fell in love, so did I. When she asked about Lisa on her and Weston's first date, I wanted to change the subject and crawl under the table!

I hate to admit it but if I was in Katrice shoes, I probably would have done the same thing to purge Royce from my system; but in the end, was it worth it? Her fantasy caused a domino effect, and as the reader, I felt each affect. By the time I finished reading this book, my emotions were all over the place! Katrice and Weston's actions were both HARD pills to swallow!

This book is sooooooooooo realistic, it will have you laughing, crying, depressed, yelling, and not knowing what the heck you are feeling!!!

The sex scenes were on point, not raunchy, if you know what I mean.

*Disclaimer....Read "One Man's Treasure" first and then read, "And They'll Come Home."*

I'm so excited about this book that my review isn't doing it much justice. All I have to say is this is a MUST READ!

I can't wait for Ms. Green's next book release! The sky is definitely her limit if she keeps putting the pen to the paper, and knocking them out the ballpark like this book!

In the words of Martin Lawrence, "You Go Guuurl!"

10***********stars!!

4.0 out of 5 stars One Man's Treasure by Charlene Green, March 23, 2010
This review is from: One Man's Treasure (Urban Soul Presents) (Paperback)
One Man's Treasure evolves around Katrice Vincent, a beautician that has everything in order. She's living the life that many only dream of. She has a nice cozy apartment, fast car, supportive family and friends and she's her own boss. On the outside she looks to have it all but she knows deep down that there's a missing link, love. That's until the handsome Weston Porter hits the scene. Weston is everything that any and every woman wants in a man. He's tall, handsome, polite, employed, child free and most of all he respects women. Although, Weston is everything Katrice wants in a man she takes many precautions just in case the guy she met is just a representative for the real Weston.

This novel takes the reader on a ride with many pit stops. Katrice and Weston are forced to deal with love on terms unfamiliar to them both. They have some tough decisions to make and there's a possibility that love won't conquer all. This novel is sure to make you re-evaluate how you think of relationships, question the decisions you have made in the past and force you to re-evaluate some current relationships.

Charlene "Hustle Diva" Green has written one of the best novels I've read when it comes to dealing with issues of the heart. Not only does she address male/female relationships but she takes on the hard task of dealing with father/son relationships. This is by far not an easy task for a woman but she pulled it off in such a real manner. This book really did my heart good. It made me sit back and just think about life, my life and the places I've been and the place I'm going.

My favorite quote from this novel is:
"Honey, people make mistakes. You expect everybody to be perfect, and they're not. You gotta open your heart a little more. Learn to listen. Learn to try to understand people. 'Specially people you love." <---(Was she talking to me?)

After I finished reading this novel, this quote stuck with me. In our loving, we have to learn to accept people for who they are and aren't and love them in spite of. Another thing about this story that I loved was the grammar. The story was told by Katrice and she used 'proper' English when narrating for the most. However, when she got to the dialogue she used loose grammar. It made me think of real girl talk where we don't use correct English in the midst of our loved ones and friends. We just get comfy and say what we want with no regrets and no judgment from others.

Kudos Hustle Diva. I look forward to reading your new novel, And They'll Come Home very soon. Congrats on all your success as you soar to the top.
