5.0 out of 5 stars What Looks Good is not always Good for you!!!
This story is one that grabs your attention in the beginning and engages you through the end. It has an "age-old" theme - everything that looks good is not necessarily good for you! Randall is a God-fearing man who demonstrates just how "weak" the flesh is and how easy it is for us to "move" from God's grace/plan for our lives. The story begins with him falling for a...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pretty OK
I struggle with whether this book deserves a 3 or a 4 star. My vote would be for a 3.5 star. Here's why.

I thoroughly enjoyed the central story, but I found the dialogue and narration a bit too "churchified" rather than the everyday form of human speech. By that I mean the jargon and manner of speech was the a lot like the typical sayings that are said in...

5.0 out of 5 stars What Looks Good is not always Good for you!!!, September 3, 2008
This review is from: A Man's Worth (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
This story is one that grabs your attention in the beginning and engages you through the end. It has an "age-old" theme - everything that looks good is not necessarily good for you! Randall is a God-fearing man who demonstrates just how "weak" the flesh is and how easy it is for us to "move" from God's grace/plan for our lives. The story begins with him falling for a "beautiful" woman - named Amarllylis. Yes, she is beautiful, but are they equally yoked? Does she truly love him and what are her intentions? Randall's pastor Cordell (who is also his best friend), does not approve of this relationship. Does Randall adhere to his warnings? Will their friendship endure?

I am an avid reader and I am always looking for a great read! This book does NOT disappoint. You will want to scream, you will laugh, you will be shocked and you will want to cry. Just keep in mind, when things look their darkest - God will show up and show out! We just need to quiet ourselves and LISTEN to His instruction! It really is a GREAT read!

Enjoy

I am a hardcore reader, and this is the first time I have read Christian Fiction...and boy was I impressed!!!!! I started reading this book at 9:30 and was done a little before 1pm. I couldn't put this book down!!! I just had to read what was going to happen at the end of this fantastic book. The author does a great job at painting a picture for her readers. Her detailed description of each character is 2nd to none. I almost wanted to email Amaryllis and ask her can I get a copy of her book of secrets...Just kidding. Get this book...you will laugh, cry, and realize there is hope in finding the perfect mate.

This was my first read by the author. The novel was great! The book pulls you in from the beginning. This is one of the best books I've ever read! I really love this book the message's are delivered in a great fashion without the reader losing interest. It's funny because I've told everyone that will listen about this book. The book definitely covers all grounds I laughed, cried and everything in between.

4.0 out of 5 stars Woman Then God!!!, July 15, 2010
This review is from: A Man's Worth (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Unfortunately, putting a woman/man before God happens more often than one would imagine. Randall puts his love for God on the backburner to chase a woman that isn't remotely interested in being saved. Randall finds out the hard way that living life without God is improbable. His life takes a spin for the worst. Will Randall repent and come back to God? Or will the lust for Amaryllis(A-ma-ry-llis)take over his flesh?

This was a great read. Plot was interesting, characters well developed, but some parts of the story was unrealistic. The author is a great writer and storyteller, but I feel that she held back her abilities in this novel. I would have liked to have had more from Randall's character, but overall, I would recommend the book.

Overall rating...4.5 (****1/2)stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars CAPTIVATING READING MATERIAL, August 17, 2009
This review is from: A Man's Worth (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Wow! from beginning to end this book grabbed my attention and I could not put it down. I read it in two days that's how deep it was. And it brings back the old saying to mind "everything that looks good - ain't good for you. Randall demonstrated that he was a God fearing man, but yet he still is a man and he let his flesh move him from God's grace/mercy. What I really enjoyed was his Pastor and best friend Cordell who did not approve of his relationship with the young lady Amarallylis did not turn his back on him even when Randall told him too. When Randall called Cordell was right there (Am I my Brothers Keeper). what irony because it is true we are our brothers/sisters keeper but we don't live up to it.

I have not read a good book that held my attention like this. I was not disappointed at all. I screamed, I laughed and I even cried because this book will have you thinking about your life and in which direction you are going.

Remember you have a plan and so do God and his plan is the one you need . Now I think I'm going to get the book Amarallylis and read it. I'm sure that will not disappoint me either.

This book was referred to me by a former church member stating that one of her co-workers had written it. It is definitely an awesome book. I am starting a book club in my church choir, and I have already recommended this book to a couple of members for their input. It is definitely worth reading.

This is a great story of redemption and friendship. The author does an effective job of showing the struggles Christians face everyday while trying to stay true to God. Keep up the good work.

4.0 out of 5 stars This book is a good read, June 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This is a good read. It's so funny how the guy in the story behaves. It kinda feels unrealistic. This book is like when you're watching a movie and the main character is doing something wrong and you're talking to the TV saying 'no don't do that' or 'don't open the door' but of course they don't listen. I would recommend you buy it if you want a good read. It isn't extremely exciting but its ok. Buy it.
