Manson women-not,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Manson Women A "Family" Portrait (Hardcover)
I was disappointed in this book. I thought it would be about the Manson woman but it was mostly about Charles Manson. It wasn't particularly well written and it was dull. I think some of the women wouldn't even be interviewed by the author.

Laid To Rest,
By Michael McNamara (Newport, South Wales United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Manson Women A "Family" Portrait (Hardcover)
I've studied the Manson phenomena from the time of the 1970 trial and own around 30 books on the topic (in addition to numerous magazines, countles newspaper clippings, photos, cds, videos and dvds) and I must say that this is probably the best book I've read on the subject. The author provides answers to the questions other publications scarcely touch upon, is never sensationalist, providing an incisive and insightful analysis of the cultural and psychological factors that created the Manson Family. A sober, intelligent and well written tome that, for me at least, sheds a much needed light upon the murky shadows that have cloaked the case in mystery, mythos and self serving conspiratorial theories. In the final analysis there was nothing magic or demonic about the entire episode... no Svengalis, antichrists or brainwashed zombie necromancers...just a sad and sordid combination of defective and inadequate individuals who came together in that narcissistic clime and produced only death and destruction. I beleive this book, by and large, closes the pages on the case and lays to rest a haunting chapter of our shared human story from over 40 years ago. Highly recommended.

The Worst!,
By
This review is from: The Manson Women A "Family" Portrait (Hardcover)
As a Manson scholar I can tell you that this edition is for book collectors only, not for readers or researchers. The unforgiveable number of typos, not to mention outright mistakes in information, some of which are so basic even a novice can spot them, relegates this work to the trash heap of exploitative Manson materials. Buy (almost) anything else.

Again, same old lies,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Manson Women A "Family" Portrait (Hardcover)
There are so many lies that are contained in this book. This author just perpetuates the 'myth', the lies. These authors who write these books do so just for money, truth has no part in their motivation. How sad.
