Music for the happy heart,

An excellent CD for kundalini yoga practices, or just for some joyous singing along. I have considered the other comments that the music is not "traditional" enough, therefore it is not valid. In my opinion, that is the equivalent of saying that if one is not listening to Gregorian Chants, one is not listening to "authentic" Christian music. You would be missing out on a whole lot.Erin Kamler (Mantra Girl) provides an interesting, modern, upbeat interpretation of more traditional mantras, which is appropriate for kundalini yoga which is an interesting, modern and upbeat interpretation of traditional yoga practices. The tracks range from rousing ("Gobinday")to relaxing (the healing mantra of "Ra Ma"), empowering (Adi Shakti) to ethereal (Sa Ta Na Ma). Kamler prints the lyrics phonetically in the album cover for easy reference and singing along. I highly recommend this CD, especially in conjunction with her instructional DVD's. I like to play it at home, in the car - wherever! It just leaves me feeling happy.

It's not sanskrit but I like it,

This is definitely a western take on the Sikh chants. These are not Hindu sanskrit chants. Different language (Not every yoga chant is Sanskrit). They are too dressed up to be traditional. Jai Utaal isn't traditional either but he great also. Same for Krishna Das. Even he gets told that he playing western versions of his chants. Both of these guys are from the hindu traditionTheses chants belong definitey to the devotional tradition since they come from the heart and can move the emotions (not to mention the feet). 3HO will probaly love them especialy the folks from '69. They are definitely western Khalsa. If you like more chantier versions of these I would definitely have to recommend the older sadhana morning chants by western Sikhs, the rainbow collection or early WAH. There is a nice series called The Yoga of Sound by Mata Mandir Singh and friends It is dance time at many points for many selections and they definitely will make you smile and brighten your day.

Exquisite,

Intricate harmonies, soaring melodies, Erin has the voice of an angel. I have generally been less than enthusiastic about most of the mantra CD's I have heard, and consider myself to be somewhat cynical and not easily moved. The first time I played this CD on my pc, I really enjoyed it. Then...I queued it up on my high-end home stereo system so that I was able to hear the fullness and richness of the music, and sat in stunned silence, tears pouring down my face. It's simply beautiful.

I'm not a huge fan of devotional chant, but I do know a great tune when I hear it. I'm the music buyer for a relaxation and wellness store in the Napa Valley and I get to hear alot of different types of world music, chant, ambient/ethereal, etc... The first time I heard the demo for Mantra Girl I was sold. I has proved to be one of our bestselling titles. Erin Kamler has a fantastic voice and the arrangements are fabulous. Even my Linkin Park/Ozzy loving boyfriend can't help chanting "Sa Ta Na Ma" in the car. I wholly suggest giving this CD a listen. Not to diss the person who did not care for this CD (one of the great things about this country is the freedom to like what you wanna!),but we also had the demo for the latest Claude Challe CD and it was unanimously "Nay"-d by the staff. So, there you go. I dig Mantra Girl!

I LOVE this CD!,

It's not the usual soft quiet yoga music, it's more lively, but you won't be dissapointed. The first time I heard the first song I HAD to have it! Now my yoga students are asking me where I got it because they want one too.

Great CD, now if only my friends would stop borrowing it!,

Erin Kamler is both a talented singer and kundalini yoga instructor. I first heard her songs on her two kundalini yoga dvds ("An Introduction to Kundalini Yoga and Chanting", and "Advanced Kundalini Yoga for the Spiritual Warrior"). They're wonderful and greatly add to the experience of yoga. I'm not surprised to hear that various yoga centres play her music during classes as well. My only problem is trying to get the CD back from friends who hear me play it and ask to borrow it. I'll be buying another copy of her CD so I can play it while I do housework and other chores. It's very uplifting music and is sure to put you in a good mood.

Great beats, if you like techno yoga,
By A Customer

This is a fantastic CD, but way too dance beat for yoga. However, for a hip, dancable yoga CD this is the one. Move over Madonna, Mantra Girl is the real thing and so is the yoga teacher-singer Erin (aka Mantra Girl's vocalist). Instead of pretending to be newagey and soothing, Erin goes all the way into the electronic realm of her dancing roots without apology for her nudity on the cover (which is sure to make traditional yogi's squirm). Yes, the music is highly synthesized, but it's well done unlike Rasa and Deva Premal who typically overdo the reverb on their voice. Go Erin!!! Go Mantra Girl!!

I LOVE this CD! I have owned it for a long time and played it so much the CD no longer runs properly. I'm buying the MP3 version today. Thank God for Cloud. Now I won't have to buy it again.

This CD adds a nice upbeat techno-sound that gives chants an uplifting feel. I would recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys a little kick with their affirming music.

Inspirational, relaxing, beautiful music to accompany the mantra chants. Great to listen to in the tub, during meditation, or in the car. Hard to have road rage or curse when your feeling inspired and singing along.
