Make Suree You Know What You're Buying,
This review is from: Mantrapping (Paperback)
I purchased this book for my sister, who is single, in hopes that she might finally land a man. Turns out, finding a mate isn't exactly what this book is all about.
On the positive side, she can now strangle a person using tall ornamental grass.

Wanna roll a boulder down a hill to take out a tank? Learn 5 ways of swinging logs from trees to hit people? Then this book is for you. I just do not see any value to what it suggests. If the author actually sets up these kind of traps, they'd work good for Hollywood, but not much else. How do you get the boulder up the side of the mountain to set the trap? How does 1 person lift those big logs into trees? There are a couple basic NVA type foot traps, but the internet has better for free.

In the usual Ragnar fashion, he gets to the point and illustrates exactly how to do it and do it well. Someday these skills will be needed and I thank people like Ragnar for showing us how to take responsibility and protect ourselves and our families -- from whomever or whatever,

A fascinating and educational little book. It begins with the basics of a guiding philosophy, then a relatively detailed description of 3 types of triggers, followed by descriptions of several interesting traps. Ample detail is given in the text and the illustrations are helpful. I would have liked more step-by-step illustrations in some cases to clarify some points but still they were sufficient. The writing is at an appropriate level and complexity for instructional text and was very readable. The size of the book makes it easy to slip in a pocket and take with you as a ready field guide when you want to give some of these a try. The tools you will need are quite simple and you could easily get along with a knife, saw, and a hammer alone to make all the traps in this book. It is an interesting anthropological study of human ingenuity in itself.

Ragnar Benson is truly one of the best writers on the subject of self sufficiency and reliance and other assorted goodies. Unlike most of these how to manuals the advice he actually gives works and the stories he tells involving these traps are entertaining as well.

This is my forth book ive read of his. Another great one. Alot of good stuff in here. Some of what he said, and what i learned in Survival Poaching and Ragnar's Urban Survival: A Hard-Times Guide to Staying Alive in the City made this a good follow up book. Like his style of writing, like his stories, love what ive learned from him. Gonna have to buy The Most Dangerous Game: Advanced Mantrapping Techniques next time i place an order.
