Manual of Grasses for North America,
By
This review is from: Manual of Grasses for North America (Paperback)
I teach Grassland ecology at a university and I am often asked to key out various species of grasses by individuals from the public. This book is an excellent purchase and I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in grasses, botany or grassland ecology. The line drawings for each species are spectacular and I like the distribution maps as well. It really fit the gap I needed to fill with some of my outdated grass keys. My students really enjoyed looking at the diagrams of the grass anatomy and several took the ISBN number to order their own copies. One of the biology professers and her assistant have also looked into ordering copies for their plant taxonomy labs. Thanks for getting the book to me so promptly - I am truely enjoying it!

A Reference Must,

This book is a culmination of a lifetime's work by Mary Barksworth. Although her revisions in Poaceae may leave all of us botanists pulling our hair out, this is a much needed up-to-date reference which shares the wealth of Mary's expertise. A must have for every herbarium and serious botanist.
