About the Author

Alvin R. Mahrer Ph.D., is the author of 18 books and approximately 250 other publications on psychotherapy. Currently, he is a Professor Emeritus at the School of Psychology, University of Ottawa and recipient of the Researcher of the Year Award from that University. Dr. Mahrer has been honoured by several Divisions of the American Psychological Association with a Distinguished Psychologist Award, as a Living Legend in Psychotherapy, and a recipient of the Rollo May Award for Pursuit of New Frontiers of Knowledge. Raymond Corsini in his preface to Current Psychotherapies refers to Mahrer s experiential psychotherapy as revolutionary as was Freud s 100 years ago and Carl Rogers 50 years ago. During the first part of his career, Mahrer spent many hours researching, practicing and writing about his experiential psychotherapy. Since the year 2000, Mahrer s work has concentrated on introducing a revolutionary way of (a) thinking about psychotherapy as a science (b) discovering a whole new inner world which is deeper within a person and (c) how a person can become all they can become.
