This book is an absolute must for anyone working in the cardiac surgical field. It covers all the bases, preoperative assessment, anesthesia, the operating room, intensive care monitoring, and post operative complications. The book also has numerous diagrams and pictures of equipment and procedures. There are several helpful charts and EKG tracings. The book is set up in a very easy to read outline form. If you work in cardiac surgery, whether you are a nurse in the ICU or operating room, a physician assistant, nurse practitioner, respiratory therapist, medical student or a doctor, this book will provide you with all the insight you need to manage the cardiac surgical patient.

This is a very good reference text for anybody working in the area of cardiac surgery. I have worked as a nurse practitioner in cardiology for 5 years and recently switched to cardiac surgery. I have found this to be a very succinct text. I can quickly find the answers to my questions. I would highly recommend it. I am a little hesitant to leave it at work as everyone from Drs to the nurses in the CVICU have been picking it up and reading it.

This book should be required for all open heart recovery nurses, new or experienced, to read and have at the bedside. Contains valuable information in an easy to read format.

This is a "bible" for anyone involved in the care of these patients. I refer to it on a daily basis and review several times in a day's work. Highly recommended.

I would recommend this book to all who work with any aspect of the heart. It's known on my unit and many other places as the Cardio Thoracic "Bible", and is properly named as such. The information relayed is clear and concise, and the photos are very detailed. It has helped me on many occasions for quick reference and has served as great reading material!

This book is a classic for cardiac surgical patients. Its easy to read, information
broken down into small sections. Subject matter is not boring or too easy.
Compact size is nice to take to work.
I care for cardiac patients in the ICU/CCU. I actually saw a nurse in
my unit carrying it too. Classic text. Must have for cardiac RN, PAs,
NPs, MD interns, residents.

This is a great book for anyone working in Cardiac Surgery. I am a Cardiac Surgery PA and recommend it to anyone who wants to do what I do. I suggest they buy their own because I am not willing to lend mine out.

Essential for CT! Easy to read, well-organized. Outlines common situations for the CT patient. Describes pathophysiology of diseases well, outlines mechanisms of medications well.

Great book! Exactly what I was looking for and easy to read. I will definitely get a ton of use out of this manual.

Contains all the essential info that interns/fellows/ICU staff should know about pre- and postoperative cardiac patient care. Reads like a thriller. Just Awesome!
