a good comprehensive survey of major counseling theories, March 1, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: Manual for Theory and Practice of Counseling and Psychotherapy, 4th Edition (Paperback)
Gerald Corey's presentation of the different counseling theorists provides a good comprehensive base for the counseling student and apprentice.
The book is written in an "easy-to-read "style. Corey also includes good biographical information about the theorists he includes in the book. He
highlights theorist from all three forces of psychology like Freud, Rogers, Perls, Glasser, Lazarus, and Bowen. Corey also presents real situations that apply to "real" counseling situations. In summary this book presents an eclectic approach to
counseling that stimulated and motivates the reader to explore the theoretical approaches in a personal way
