Manual of Throws is User Friendly, June 28, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Manual of Throws for Sport Judo and Self-Defense (Hardcover)
Fred Neff's Manual of Throws is user friendly. It is very well organized. It gives the historical background for the development of throws, answers to common questions about throwing, warm-up exercises, stances for throwing, falling techniques, sport Judo throws and additional self-defense throws. I like the way the writer broke down each throw into simple learning steps with corresponding photographs. I have followed these learning steps and found they work to allow me to execute the throw. This manual is an outstanding resource for someone who wants to learn how to do different types of throws. This book like Fred Neff's other books on Lessons From the Samurai, Lessons From the Japanese Warriors, Lessons From the Eastern Warriors, Lessons from the Western Warriors and Lessons from the Fighting Commandos really provides the essential information on throwing and related takedowns. I successfully used all of these excellent books to add to my repertoire of techniques. Manual of Throws for Judo and Self Defense is strongly recommended.
