A welcome and seminal addition to Art History collections in general,

This review is from: Manuel Neri: The Figure in Relief (Hardcover)
Next to art being drawn upon cave walls, sculpture is the oldest enduring art form known to man. Manuel Neri is a master of this particular medium of artistic expression and in "Manuel Neri: The Figure In Relief" by Bruce Nixon (an independent scholar and former editor-in-chief of 'Artweek', a monthly art newspaper based in California) has compiled and provides captioning and commentary for a colorful survey of the relief sculptures and related drawings of this complex sculptor, drawn from more than twenty-five years of work beginning with his earliest figures created in the 1950s and 1960s. Neri's ability to create and depict the figural form in a variety of media ranging from plaster and clay to bronze and marble documents him as a master sculptor in a tradition that stretches back for centuries. "Manuel Neri: The Figure In Relief" is a welcome and seminal addition to Art History collections in general, and 20th Century Sculpture reference collections in particular.

The images and text give insight to Neri and his process. I wish I'd bought this book when I purchased 'Manuel Neri Early Work 1953-1978'! It's a rich and excellent reference for my work.
