How to test your K&H Small Animal Heated Pad
You'll notice that the K&H Small Animal Heated Pad may not feel warm to the touch when your pet is not on the pad. That is normal!! You can test the pad by placing a large pillow on top of the pad. After about 20 minutes, feel under the pillow. It will feel warm, not hot. Do not use an extension cord during this test. Do not place anything on the pad (other than the fleece cover made for the pad) any other time. This should only be done during testing.

One of my rabbits sits in his all the time and loves to "groom" the cover. I love that the first 2 feet of the cord is chew proof, essential for rabbits. Definitely get a cover for it otherwise the plastic surface is too slick for them to sit on comfortably. Note however, that the cover will almost definitely get chewed on so it won't last forever (I ordered an extra one for when it wears out.)
My vet also said to be sure that the rabbit has enough room in their pen / cage to not sit on the pad in case they feel too warm so they don't overheat.
This will be the third year of use and it has kept the cat warm and cozy even in the coldest winter weather.
I am going to buy one more just for a back up.
It is rigid and should have a pad with it for comfort.
Nice part of it is I didn't notice any change in our electric bill running it all the time from November till end of April.
