Fabulous read!!! Highly recommended!!
"He has always been able to get what he wanted when he wanted it...until Mike McGuire came up against the one obstacle he couldn't bypass...time. Gay was everything he wanted, needed in his life. She was vital. She was strong, with a strength she didn't seem to realize. She was the same age as his married son. Life hurt too much. Life stole more than it gave...then Gay Noble met Mike. Her family thought he was too old for her. Her sister had married Mike's son. From that moment on, her life had begun to change. They shared one night that changed her way of looking at herself and her past. He had left her bed but buried himself in her heart. Now, she was out to get her man, anyway she could."

Not horrible, but not really good, February 9, 2007
This review is from: Many Faces of Love (Paperback)
This book's interesting in that it reunites readers with the author's previous characters: Pippa and Joshua Luck; his brother Joe and Joe's wife; Jason and Diana; several other couples; as well as the spouses of the 3 S's: brothers Stryker, Slater and Stoner. Just kidding; couldn't remember the third brother's name :)
The main characters in this book, Mike McGuire, the 3 S's father; and Gay Noble, whose sister is married to one of Mike's sons; are initially compelling. Then the story just kind of fizzles. The main source of conflict is the age difference between the two and their family members' reaction: oh no, my sister would become my stepmother if she married my father-in-law; egad, our son-in-law is a member of the AARP too! The latter is a slight exaggeration, but not by much :)
Lacey Dancer is known for writing affecting, sensual romances and characters that remain in the memory long after the final page is turned in their book. I do not believe her fans would find that to be true of Mike and Gay. Too bad, because the premise of this book is a good one, but the story just stalled somehow.
For an excellent older man/younger woman story with similar conflict but much steamier relationship between the couple, try Karen Keast's "The Surprise of His Life."
Don't give up on Lacey Dancer, though, as she has written a number of books on my KEEPER shelf: "Silke," "Noelle," "Leora," and "Caprice," separate Precious Gems romances of four sisters; "13 Days of Luck," the story of Pippa and Joshua Luck; "Flight of the Swan," and "Silent Enchantment."
