3.0 out of 5 stars Careful when using the word "Infallible"
Overall, the book is very good. Biblical creationism is spot-on--this is where Morris shines. My bone to pick with the book centers around the nature of Hell, and I can't see how Morris could make some of the statements he does and place them in a book titled "Infallable".

In the section regarding Hell, Morris describes the fate of those people as perhaps...

Mr. Morris has jump started me many times with this wonderfully referenced work. It's a great book to return to when seeking fact based information on the infallibilty of the Bible. It covers many areas such as prophecy and fulfillment including examples and statistical data, history, astronomy, geology and many other topics. It also contains some good data that clashes with mainline evolution. It clearly is not intended to be in-depth on each topic but is an easy read with an index and references for deeper study in many of the topics.

Other books that deliver mounds of factual evidence showing the absurdity of standard evolutionary beliefs include In Six Days, written by 50 well-accredited scientists (many who are reknowned), Starlight and Time, Search for the Truth, In the Beginning, and Darwin's Black Box.

This review is from: Many Infallible Proofs: Practical and Useful Evidences of Christianity (Paperback)
Overall, the book is very good. Biblical creationism is spot-on--this is where Morris shines. My bone to pick with the book centers around the nature of Hell, and I can't see how Morris could make some of the statements he does and place them in a book titled "Infallable".

In the section regarding Hell, Morris describes the fate of those people as perhaps residing in the center of some distant star (since spirit can't burn, and yet the Bible mentions fire in Hell). This is in absolutely no way in the Bible and should not have been proffered as a truth. It is much better to admit that we don't know all the answers than to spin our own human speculation. Such speculation diminishes the testimony of Christianity.

Praise God there are infallable truths out there. God has revealed himself in nature and through natural processes and Morris shines a light on those through the Bible.

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Primer on the Factuality of the Bible, June 7, 2001

In our humanist-dominated world, the Bible is often portrayed, at best, as just one of many ancient religious books. Few people are aware of the many evidences for Divine Inspiration which propel the Bible far above any other religious book. This book presents an excellent introduction to just some of these evidences. Don't worry if you are not an expert: You don't have to be a scholar to understand this well-written book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for all those interested in proofs for the Bible, January 21, 1999

This review is from: Many Infallible Proofs: Practical and Useful Evidences of Christianity (Paperback)
This book is an excellent resource for proof of the infallibility of scripture. It is easy to understand and has a good subject, scripture, and author index for those wo have specific questions. Morris'proofs have withstood scrutiny and the test of time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great information, but a bit dry, November 30, 2001
This review is from: Many Infallible Proofs: Practical and Useful Evidences of Christianity (Paperback)
There is so much information in this book that you will walk away with a head full of Christian proofs and Creationist arguments against evolution. In the earlier chapters, we (we used it for last year's Bible study - yes, we took the whole year!) found holes in some of his arguments and hypotheses, but these were pretty much inconsequential and irrelevant to the overall purpose of the book. The origins and reasons for Creation sections are very well thought out and believable. The "anti-evolution" sections offer great data that anyone could use in a Creation .vs. accident/Evolution discussion. There may be a few items and arguments left out, but it is a great resourse that you will reference many times.

And, the chapters at the end on numerology and (I forget the other...) - they're presented strictly as interesting tidbits, and are separated from the rest of the book as appendices.

I recommend the book. It can get dry at times, but, then again, are you reading it to be entertained or educated? If the former, buy Strobell's "Case for Christ", which is also very good, but lacks the scientific nature and in depth analysis of Creation found in Infallible Proofs. If the latter, get it and soak it all in!

4.0 out of 5 stars Finally a book that spells it all out on God Evidence, July 26, 2011

I have been reading Youth Earth and Old Earth arguements for three years. The mounting evidence for Young Earth has astounded me. Even more annoying is the fact that such information is never given out along side of Evolution or Christian Old Earth advocates. After reading this book I can understand why. Henry Morris does a wonderful job walking one through every element of the Word of God, Science and even the Psychology of the attack against the Bible. I enjoyed his outlook on the Trinity from a Scientific viewpoint. I recommend to anyone that has a friend that has a Scientific mind and is open to a relationship with God, to pass this off to them. I want to add in this that another book, I believe easily found on Amazon is "Foundations their power and influence" by Rene Wormser. If you want to read how our government at one point in 1915 and 1956 put together two committee's to look into the Foundations in this country. Rockafeller, Ford, Carneige, etc. To ask questions about their influence, power and hidden agenda through our Universities, media, clubs and eventually religious institutions that has been designed to oppose information that supports the Bible, then that is another book one should read. The Committee's discovered teachers and other individuals be given tenure, academic awards, Nobel Prizes to up their status, even when the books, articles or experiments would not have passed normal academic scrutney. One need only read this book to discover why Science, Psychology, and Religion have appeared to be at odds with each other when in reality. They are more on the same page if the information was not twisted or selected to the general public.

This book is worth reading and worth considering all of the issues addressed here about the Christian faith. Christianity can be proven to be the one true understanding of God and they do a nice job in this book of getting people closer to those facts.

The best book on the subject of Christianity is; "I Don't Have Enough Faith To Be An Atheist." If one would read that book and still come away thinking God is not as Christianity says He is, there is no hope for that person. At least no hope if provable facts are not enough.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE LAST "GENERAL" APOLOGETICS WORK BY A FAMED CREATIONIST, February 18, 2010
This review is from: Many Infallible Proofs: Practical and Useful Evidences of Christianity (Paperback)
Henry M. Morris (1918-2006) was probably the most famous of the "young earth" creationists (see his book, The Genesis Flood the Biblical Record and Its Scientific Implications), as well as one of the founders of the Creation Research Society and the Institute for Creation Research.

However, his work on Creationism has tended to overshadow his earlier work on general Christian apologetics, beginning with That You Might Believe, which was originally written in 1946 (and enlarged and republished in 1951 as The Bible and Modern Science), as well as The Bible Has the Answer.

This book was published in 1977, and nearly the last third is concerned with Bible/Science issues with which Morris has dealt with more extensively in other books. This book begins, however, by covering topics such as, "The Unique Birth of Christ," "The Resurrection of Christ," "The Fact of God," "Problems in Verbal Inspiration," "Alleged Bible Contradictions," etc.

Here are some representative quotations from the book:

"With respect to the book of Genesis, however, it is probable that differences in style and vocabulary actually are partly attributable to different writers. There are not the mysterious J, E, P, and D, however, but Adam, Noah, Shem and the other patriarchs."

"Such an important ministry as the burial of the body of Jesus could not be entrusted by God to the Roman soldiers, who would merely further defile it and then throw it in with the bodies of other executed criminals... The solution was for God to have the body buried by one or more of the authorities themselves who were also disciples."

"The same God who prepared the original writers and protected them from error could as easily have prepared the copyists and safeguarded the Scriptures from later error. Jesus had said, 'My words shall not pass away.' (Mt 24:35) There is good reason to believe He has fulfilled His promise."

I love books that easily explain evolution is not possible. It's funny how evolutionist use the "simple to complex" argument, its very cute and childish. Stand strong for the Glory of God.

2.0 out of 5 stars Look elsewhere..., November 23, 2001

Morris' presents an apologetic on the standard topics such as the divinity of Jesus, the resurrection, NT textual reliability, is the bible the Word of God?, etc. The content is ho-hum. Both the arguments he employs and the support he rallies are very basic, with little tackling of objections. He lacks the philosophical background necessary for a rigorous discussion of God's existence, and possesses a level of biblical scholarship quite inferior to others who write similar books. As he's done in other books, he discusses his pet theories of gospel in the stars and numerology. The former is very questionable, while the latter is only somewhat less so, yet totally inappropriate for a book of this type. Morris, though prolific in writing, is writing books he really shouldn't. In the apologetic arena, there are simply superior options written by much more qualified people. Unless you're discussing this book with 12 year olds or those lacking both critical thinking skills and the desire to use them, avoid this book. It's dated, simplistic, and written by someone who has no business writing such a thing. Mr. Morris, stop...please?!?! For alternatives, I'd recommend the following (from basic to rigorous): Case for Christ - Lee Strobel, Christianity for Skeptics - Steve Kumar (touches on religious plurality - nice bonus!), Reasonable Faith - William Lane Craig.
