Editorial Reviews

Based on characters created by Max Shulman, this CBS comedy aired from 1959 to 1963. Dwayne Hickman starred as typical teenager Dobie, a grocer's son who continually sought the attention of the opposite sex. Bob Denver was Dobie's beatnik sidekick Maynard G. Krebs, and first-season regulars included Tuesday Weld as gorgeous classmate Thalia Menninger and Warren Beatty as wealthy rival Milton Armitage. This is Volume Two: "Dobie's Birthday Party" is nearly a disaster after its guest of honor is tardy. A young Ronnie Howard guests. Next, Dobie meets "The Flying Millicans" after getting a date with an athletic girl. Co-stars Francis X. Bushman, Yvonne Craig. 50 min.

1.0 out of 5 stars not enough, June 26, 2006

This review is from: The Many Loves Of Dobie Gillis, Vol. 2 (DVD)
A great 50's show, perhaps the prototye for "The 70's Show", a series with the TV's most beautiful golddigging goddess Thalia Menninger (Tuesday Weld), Maynard G Krebs ("Work!" Bob Denver, aka Gilligan), clothes-hound Milton Armitage (Warren Beatty), dwarfish Zelda Gilroy (propinquity) and let's not forget the rich Chatsworth Osborne Jr (Family motto "Never dip into Capital").

However for $18+ you get only 2 twenty-five minute (without commercials) episodes. Poor quality print.
Poor value for the money.

These programs are great! Just wait for used ones to come along for a reasonable price and you won't be disappointed. I have volumes 1-6 and love them!
