3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting but . . .
Why is it that everyone that Edgar Cayce regressed spent their previous lives in the same places - Early America either with the "Indians" or as an "Indian," Ancient Greece, Rome, Palestine, Egypt, Persia, Chaldea, Atlantis, and sometimes China? What about Latin America, or Africa other than Egypt, or Australia, Eastern Europe, Russia, India, etc? What about Nubia? It...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Profoundly Persuasive Book on Reincarnation, April 27, 2005
I still remember how I 'accidentally' discovered this book in the summer of 1972 when I was supposed to do my education dissertation.I spent days carefully reading Many Mansions and at the end of it my whole perspective on life had changed. Dr. Cerminara is logical and thorough.

Very few people can read this with an open mind and not be changed by its world view.

There was also a personal 'happening' with the book. While I was re-reading it a second time in 1973 it disappeared for a few days.

Later my father returned it with the laconic comment:" She's right. We live many lives."

I was surprised because we were a Catholic family and I didn't want to cause waves with my new found views.

In December of that year my father died. I was able to accept his death as one more journey since I felt reassured by his comment. I knew that he was alive but in another dimension. This thought was rewarded by a very vivid dream soon after his death.

One night I dreamt him holding a candle. He told me I should light one to symbolise the continuation of life. Then he disappeared in a rushing wind.

I sudddenly awoke to find the window near to my bed wide open. I had carefully closed it before I had gone to bed because my mother had reminded me to do so. Also a prized framed photo of my father lay broken on the floor.I felt that somehow my father had reached out to confirm what he had said about Cerminara's book.

I think many will be comforted when they read this book. The examples of the subtlety and complexity of the law of karma will stun many.

Dr.Cerminara allowed me to look beyond many experiences I have had in this life and intuit what karmic lessons I needed to learn.

I am delighted that this book is still available. Reading it could change your view of life and its purpose.

I also read two other books that Cerminara did using the Cayce readings. They were 'Many Lives,Many Loves' and 'The World Within'. If you find them you could continue the interesting journey into the world of the Akashic records, karma and reincarnation.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book proves the reality of reincarnation and karma., August 5, 1999
By A Customer
I was delighted to see that this book is still in print. I read it more than 20 years ago and it still remains close to the top of my short list of books that truly changed my life. The author, a Phd psychologist, examines the readings of Edgar Cayce and presents her results in such a clear and logical manner that it is difficult to argue with her conclusions. Soul is eternal, reincarnation and karma are real, life is a school. She traces the karmic causes of most diseases and other negative conditions and shows how justice is served through many lifetimes. She does not neglect the effects of positive karma. In the end, it is all grist for the mill of soul: wealth, poverty, hardship, etc.; just opportunities for soul to unfold and discover it's own divine nature. She gives example after example that are so concrete and real that they will give the most hardened sceptic pause. For someone like myself who was raised to be an intellectual and a nonbeliever, this material was a real revelation. This book was one of the foundations of my spiritual education. Most importantly, I was able to confirm the author's conclusions with my own experience which is the only thing that counts in matters spiritual. Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well thought out and inspirational book, July 2, 2003
By
W. D. Kuykendall (Christoval, TX USA) - See all my reviews
I have to say of all the books dealing with Edgar Cayce's readings this is one of the best. The writing is on a par with Mr. Sugru's book even though it has more of a textbook quality to it rather than a biography. I have caught other books on Mr. Cayce's readings and philosophy, even one by his son Hugh Lynn, occasionally playing fast and loose with scriptural references but this one has yet to throw up any red flags to me. I look forward to giving copies of it to my family and re-reading it many times.

Our Christian faith has developed a distinct case of self-worship, worship of the traditions rather than the underlying facts that brought them about, and my general departure from church gatherings is a result of it. Mr. Cayce was emphatic that the readings information not be a basis for any new religion and he was correct in that demand. Books such as this can, eventually, bring our faith back to what Christ intended it to be rather than what Constantine and his gang of bishops devised in the, what, second century C.E.?

5.0 out of 5 stars A Thought Provoking Book!, June 4, 2004
By A Customer
I have read 11 "Edgar Cayce" books, but "Many Mansions" is the MOST thought provoking book of them all! It'll make you think twice before harming anyone. It'll make you think about your own lfe, and why people suffer in different ways, and the whole purpose of life in general. This is DEFINATELY a MUST READ!

5.0 out of 5 stars The book that changed my life, June 4, 2010
Decades ago, when I was just 17, I had become despondent and angry about life and the whole universe - why would a loving god let some children be born deformed and handicapped, into miserable abusive lives, even to die in childhood...but then let others be born beautiful, strong and blest, "with silver spoons in their mouths"? Why did I have a raging alcoholic mother, an insensitive runaway father, and no hopes of going to a prestigious college, while some of my classmates had TV-perfect parents, a pre-paid education at Harvard, and a new car as a high-school graduation gift?

And the church insisted that we each only get one brief shot at life, and then it was heaven or hell for all eternity. That deeply violated every sense of fairness in my being. What about "all men were created equal"?? That "stupid statement" certainly didn't appear to be true at all!

Distraught, I was wandering through the library one day, desperately praying inside that if a greater goodness, a real Universal Love, was listening to me, please let me find out what and where it was - please speak to me, please explain the real meaning behind all this apparent monstrous unfairness of life...and suddenly there was a bright green book on the shelf in front of me, among other books that seemed to have no color. Across the spine, it read "Many Mansions by Gina Cerminara".

Without any hesitation, I pulled it out of the stacks, sat down at the nearby table, and had already "consumed" half of it when the lights of the library were flicked off and on and the librarian shouted "closing time". I quickly checked it out, rushed home, and devoured the rest of the book that evening.

"YES!!! IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!!!" I shouted in my head. "THANK YOU, GOD!!!" I wept for joy.

This book literally turned my whole life around. Dr. Cerminara had presented Edgar Cayce's astounding (but vast and complex) materials with such clarity and order that, in one evening, it straightened out a messed-up 17-year-old boy's convoluted mind, one who had contemplated suicide - and he emerged the next morning like a joyous butterfly from the long prison of a hideous, dark cocoon.

"God made me eternal!" I could say in ecstasy. "And whatever, wherever I am right now is what and where I have elected to be! I'm here to LEARN!" Life on Earth is just a very long education with many grades, many courses, "many mansions" - with "summer breaks" in between (misunderstood as "death"). There are rules, but they are absolutely FAIR! If you work hard, you pass and are rewarded for your work. If you screw around, you fail and have to repeat. If you are mean and hurt your fellow classmates, you are punished accordingly - you must learn exactly how they felt when you hurt them. If you love and help others, others will love and help you...and on and on. You learn, you grow, and everything's fair! And we WERE all created equal! Where we are now depends on our past and our decisions. But we have eternity to get it right!

And NOW I knew what Jesus really meant when he said, "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." Jesus wasn't speaking "metaphorically" - he meant EXACTLY what he said!! And when he said that Elijah had already come, but they knew him not (Matthew 17), he honestly did mean that Elijah had already come back as John the Baptist! These passages survived the purge of Emperor Constantine's Council of Nicaea, just enough to assure us of Jesus' original message.

Well, after all these decades, this book is still one of the foremost revelations of my life, and I will be eternally (literally) grateful to Gina Cerminara for putting it all together so clearly. Although logically I know better, I still feel like it was just for me - that bright green book gleaming in the dour library shelves. I owe my life (this particular one) to Gina Cerminara, Edgar Cayce, and Many Mansions.

5.0 out of 5 stars The case for perfect justice in the world, August 10, 2002
By A Customer
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Cerminara demonstrates the enormous reasonableness of the doctrine of reincarnation. In the process, she also makes a strong case for the existence of perfect justice in the world, despite appearances to the contrary. Her arguments are illustrated by excerpts from the Edgar Cayce readings, but one need not accept these readings to appreciate the force of Cerminara's argument. Read this book and learn to take the LONG view of things. You'll be glad you did.

This book is wonderful. You won't question any further about there being life after death. This explains it all. You can't help but be emotional when reading the case histories and I couldn't help but to begin to ask questions and receive answers from my spirit guide. If you are just learning about paranormal, psychic abilities, are an opening psychic, have questions on reincarnation, this is the book for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent overview of reincarnation, April 3, 1998
By A Customer
I first read Many Mansions 15 years ago. It started me on a spiritual journey that continues to this day. Based on the psychic readings given by Edgar Cayce, the book provides an excellent overview and synopsis of reincarnation and the life of Cayce. Answers to many of the questions posed by those not well versed in "new age" theology are provided in a concise and thorough manner. Highly recommended for anyone interested in exploring these topics.

A fabulous book, extremely well written. This is one of the few books that has impacted my way of thinking. After reading this I find it easier to accept a lot of depressing things I see in this world.
