I picked up this set of Mantovani CDs at a local store, thinking it would be great music to relax to.I had never heard the Mantovani Orchestra before, so I was in for a surprise. This music is fantastic! It is relaxing music, but it is also beautiful music that I want to play over and over again. Some of my favorites are on disk 2 - Thais Meditation and Solveigs Song, but all of them are great and you will thoroughly enjoy them. I concur with the other reviewers, that this is a must have!

Classic, latin, and romantic selections played as only the maestro can do it. The music is relaxing, moving, and inspiring. This is a must have set, especially if you're a Montovani fan!

We just received and listed to this three-disc set of The Many Moods of The Mantovani Orchestra. The clarity of sound and the choice of selections is more than we expected. We are early "baby boomers" who were raised on these most pleasant renditions that remain classical. Even tho we still have all this music on records, it is a real treat to now have it on CDs.

I had some old Mantovani LP's that I loved. This CD set is nice listening, but it sounds like it was recorded with an orchestra half the size of the originals. They are OK, but not what I had hoped for.

Why do another recording? Why not just reissue the LP originals on CD?

A most enjoyable album in the tradition of the records Mantovani made when he was still with us. However, if you compare tracks performed here to the originals, you'll note a difference. The arrangements are slightly less interesting here, the performances lack some of the verve of the originals, while the "sound" achieved on the original Mantovani albums is superior to these newer CDs (there is a better dynamic range, room ambience (yes, you can hear the room), and greater brightness to be found in those older production efforts, believe it or not). I compared Cielito, La Paloma, and Be Mine Tonight to their counterparts found on Mantovani's original "Latin Rendezvous" album and there IS a difference! Nevertheless, there is SUPERB music to be found on this collection, which may be enjoyed on its own merits. I have been enjoying these CDs immensely. I'm tempted to deduct a star for the absence of Mantovani, himself, the missing X-factor who apparently can't be left out of the equation without consequence. On one hand, that's not really fair, on the other, it must be noted that there is a difference. Enjoy these CDs while being inspired to collect the originals from the Master, himself!
