How many people know that the first man to make reggae popular was not Bob Marley, but Jimmy Cliff?
This album showcases his 1960's hits, including the hope-filled song of brotherhood (and sisterhood), WONDERFUL WORLD BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, the beautiful MANY RIVERS TO CROSS, VIETNAM billed by Bob Dylan as the best protest song ever) , the inspirational You Can Get It If You Really Want ,the determined HARD ROAD TO TRAVEL, the African drumbeats of BONGO MAN (A COME),the wise TIME WILL TELL, the plaintive SUFFERIN' (IN THE LAND), and the upbeat COME INTO MY LIFE.
You have got to listen to Jimmy Cliff, for the essence of authentic reggae.

This album is not for someone looking for popular reggae era Jimmy Cliff songs. While this album has a handful like Vietnam, Wonderful World, and You can get it if you really want, there are much better compilations out there for those songs.

This album is primarily for the Jimmy Cliff or SKA fans that are looking for his hard to find early ska songs. Most of the songs on this album were written when he was still a teenager, before reggae even existed.

This album has all Jimmy's excellent ska songs like King of Kings(written right after Jamaica's independence), Miss Jamaica( About Miss Jamaica's victory at the 1963 Miss World pageant one year after independence), and his first hit Hurricane Hattie (about the 1961 Hurricane).

This is and excellent collection of Jimmy's songs. Many of the songs on this album you will not find anywhere else.
