criminals excuse their crimes, May 17, 2008
This review is from: The Many-Sided Triangle: Adoption in Australia (Paperback)
After a career built on coercing adoption consent signatures out of young, vulnerable, pregnant, unsupported girls, marshall & maggie seek to minimise the trauma they have inflicted on thousands of their victims. As both adoption consent takers and as adopters themselves (yes, they were skimming the cream of their crimes for their own nests) it is obvious to all that this book is nothing more than a thinly disguised justification for the unjustifiable - that being the wanton removal of children from their mothers, the wanton destruction of true and safe biological families, so that these two so-called 'authors' could prop up their twisted egos by playing God to prospective adopters - for a fee of course.
Maggie McDonald in particular, listed breach after breach after breach of the adoption laws in her evidence to the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into Adoption. There's nothing hidden in the records of that Inquiry - Maggie incriminated herself everytime she opened her mouth or put pen to paper in that Inquiry.
How anyone can think she has any credability when speaking of adoption practice once she had exposed her true practices at that Inquiry, is a mystery to me.
This book does not even approximate the truth of adoption practice or the fallout of that practice in Australia. In fact, McDonald was named in the NSW Inquiry as the most tramatising "captor" of young girls in the 1970s and 1980s.
This book is entirely self-serving. It is not the truth. Buy it for a sick laugh. Buy it for critique. But don't waste your 20 to 30 dollars on this tosh if you're looking for the truth.
Read the transcripts - all of them - from the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry Forum Day. They're not only the truth about McDonald and her ilk: they're also free.
