The Logic of Social Life,
By The Logician (US) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Many-Splendored Society: An Edifice of Symbols (Volume 2) (Paperback)
Professor Hans Zetterberg is with the series of books, called The Many-Splendored Society, offering its readers a truly sociological account of the complexity in which we are thrown. The book draws on the continental idea mostly associated with Max Weber that social life is divided into a set of spheres, all of which with a certain degree of autonomy, which means that their principles of evaluations are not reducible to one another. With this framework the books offer tools for understanding concrete situations and problems. Hans Zetterberg is to be applauded for this scholarly contribution to our knowledge of social life. This reader has come to appreciate the direct way in which the books are written, and the clarity of the arguments - a virtue which means you can learn from the text regardless of your own opinion on the matters. It is, for short, a highly recommendable book!
