And three of the finest artists in the world...that's way hokier than I had intended it to sound. This is a wonderful wonderful album, I lost my copy a while back, and am ecstatic to find I can replace it, i've found this album hard to come by. I took it to a musical, populated by kids who like Pop music and Alternative rag, stuff I can listen to and enjoy sometimes, but nothing I can throw on the stereo on repeat and use as a backdrop for my life, and all these kids, sitting there in the dressing room, enthralled by the sheer vocal talent, adn stylings of these three great men. It was a kodak moment.

I had thought the Voice Squad had made only one recording, "Good People All" in 1993, but was delighted to discover they made "Many's the Foolish Youth" as well. It's a remix of a collection originally recorded in 1987. The new recording was released in 1996. As was the case in "Good People All", their a cappella harmony is unsurpassed for its richness and poignancy. I have played selections from "Good People All" many times on my radio show, Our Saturday Tradition, on KBCS 91.3 FM (streaming live at kbcs.fm). I'm looking forward to sharing songs from this recording with listeners. I highly recommend it.

The Voice Squad from Belfast (or is it Derry City?), Northern Ireland sings traditional Irish songs unaccompanied with amazingly rich harmonies. Their treatment of their very tasteful repertoire is more in a British style like The Watersons or the Canadian group, Finest Kind, than any Irish traditional singers I am familiar with. I only wish The Voice Squad was still performing and making recordings. I still give them loads of airplay on my radio program Tuesday nights 9pm eastern on WFHB ([...]) Community Radio.
