The East End..., January 19, 2011
This review is from: Map-Prince William Sound East (National Forest/Blm S.) (Map)
The eastern side of Alaska's Prince William Sound features the towns of Valdez and Cordova, both accessible by vessel and plane, with Valdez actually reachable via the Richardson Highway. Each is the launch point for some spectacular Alaska terrain.
National Geographic's "Prince William Sound-East" provides topographic coverage of the area. One side covers the northern half, including Valdez Arm, Port Valdez, and Valdez itself. This side includes the trail from Valdez to Shoup Bay State Marine Park and Mineral Creek Canyon north of Valdez. The second side shows the southern half, including the town of Cordova, the Delta of the Copper River, and the Chugach National Forest behind Cordova. There is an inset showing the streets of Cordova.
The map itself is water resistant, flexible, easy to read, and easily transported in a pocket or rucksack. The "Prince William Sound-East" map is very highly recommended to those travelors planning to explore the wilds of Prince William Sound.
