Book Description

Book Two of The Tununda Mysteries

After discovering a lost Civil War hat from a famous Union general who was shot in the back during the Battle of Atlanta, Freemason military historian Lieutenant Colonel Jake Tununda is shocked to learn a secret waybill may be hidden inside the hat's liner. Before he can inspect it, the hat and two priceless Nazi artifacts disappear from the West Point Museum in a brazen daytime theft. Jake and his stunning girlfriend, private investigator Rae Hart, head to Savannah to question their main suspect, an aging World War II vet. They soon find themselves targeted for assassination. Even worse, Jake is suspended from the case and the Army itself. In Map of Thieves, a mystery thriller set in the deep South, Jake and Rae team up with Delta Force operative Alex Vann to catch a killer thief and to locate the legendary Cherokee Tunnel-a gold vault in the Georgia mountains that dates back to 1838 and the Trail of Tears. Enter U.S. Congressman Tom Black of Atlanta, one of the dirtiest, most corrupt politicians ever to steal an election. He's also the great grandson of the sniper whose shot killed the Union general. Once privy to what's inside the secret Indian tunnel-Hernando de Soto's stolen Spanish mining map-Black will let nothing stand in his way to steal it for himself, including killing his own elderly father.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great mystery with an ingenious plot February 2, 2014
Format:Paperback
A great mystery with an ingenious plot, MAP OF THIEVES reminds me of Dan Brown and Steve Berry thrillers. This is the latest novel I've read by Karpovage, and his best to date. The book is a real page-turner, packed with action and suspense. At the same time, it does an amazing job of weaving in mysterious artifacts, historical information about the Civil War, and Native American lore. I particularly liked Jake Tununda and the sexy Rae Hart. I hope they'll be back for another book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An awsome book filled with mystery, suspense, and more. February 2, 2014
Format:Paperback
I gave this book a 5-Star rating. It's very captivating, keeps you wanting to read more, you don't want to put it down until you're all done. Definitely a good read for someone who enjoys mystery, suspense, romance and history all wrapped up in one great book. The book is super from page one all the way to the last page of the Acknowledgements. This book also gives you the desire to do some research on your own of the Freemasons, the Civil War, WWI and WWII and other historical topics. Enjoy the book and pass along how good of a read it really is.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars all the way!! Excellent book! You will love it! February 6, 2014

Format:Kindle Edition
After reading the authors previous book, Crown of Serpents, I knew I had to get this book as soon as it was released. The author has an awesome way of putting the reader right in the story. You will easily escape into this adventure and not want to put the book down. Map of Thieves blends various aspects of history and modern day times. You will travel through time from the Cherokee Indian struggles, to the American Civil war and yes even to modern day times with current events and inner city youth gang violence. The story told in this book takes the reader to places that could not be foreseen and is a suspenseful thriller. Be prepared for sleepless nights. The book will certainly leave you wanting more. I cant praise the author enough, I was highly anticipating this book after reading Crown of Serpents, and I was NOT disappointed. I cant wait, hopefully book 3 will come out very soon. 5 stars!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Karpovage Does It Again: February 12, 2014
Format:Paperback
This book takes up with the same charters he introduced in his first book Crown of Serpents! If you like history, mystery, thrillers, and some steamy scenes, this book is for you. Karpovage writes like a seasoned veteran of thrillers, not a new comer to the novel arena. The people in the story are believable, and down to earth, not super hero's. Jake Tununda is a bad ass but totally real! Rae, his girlfriend ain't no slouch! His books will regenerate an interest in history I am sure. These humble words do not totally express how much I loved this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything a Mystery Thriller Should Be and More! February 19, 2014
Format:Paperback
Map of Thieves was a highly interesting, hurry up and turn the page to see what happens next kind of book for me. Karpovage's mix of fact and fiction flow very smoothly in his writing to make the story come alive as if it were very real. I particularly enjoyed not only the mix of fact and fiction but the added romance, revenge, treasure hunting and danger that was contained in the book, it made it a fast edge of your seat and enjoyable read that will keep the readers attention the entire time! Overall the plot the timelines, the story and the mystery all combine together to make one hell of a book. What I also found very interesting is at the end of the book when the story is over the book has a section written by Karpovage that explains in detail and separates what was actually fact and what parts were fiction coming from his own imagination as well as where and why it was a part of the storyline. That part of the book is written so well it as if you were discussing the book directly with the author himself. Great book and I hope he continues to write more following where he left off with this title. The book will definitely leave you wanting more. I can't wait to read what happens next in the saga of the main characters! Job well done!

I absolutely was thrilled with this latest work from Karpovage and he again makes the past come to Life and the present shimmer with suspense! If you read just a few pages you will be hooked on his style and content and after you read it please join me in the crowd eagerly awaiting his next work!! Chain him to his desk!! ;)
Not since Allen Eckert has an author made the past so real to me as I read about Lives long passed away and how their lives impact our today in ways we may never realize!
Michael actually made me jump in a few places.... My highest recommendations!! Enjoy!

4.0 out of 5 stars Thrilling! March 15, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
The continuing adventure of Jake and Rae takes you into another world of mystery and suspense, combined with localized information characteristic of a tourism bureau. Inspires you to continue research, as the author has meticulously done, of the area and events so adequately described. The couple's relationship with each other as well as interaction with other characters leaves the reader with pulse-pounding expectations at the next turn of the page. Was worth waiting for and looking forward to their next adventure!
