This review is from: Mapenzi (Audio CD)
Ronald Muldrow has established himself as a guitarist by playing with the late Eddie Harris during the late 60's. This CD showcases his years of experience and quality. Upon listening to this CD, it gave me memories of listening to my father's old Modern Jazz Quartet LP's as a kid growing up in Brooklyn. The track, "Seven Come Eleven/Freedom Jazz Dance" is a mix of two different songs. One was written by the guitar legend, Charlie Christian, the other by his collaborator, Eddie Harris. It's an outstanding achievement of improvisation. My personal favorite tracks were "Mapenzi" and "Soleshia". With an assist from Vibraphonist Donald Vega, the musical blend makes this CD a pleasant listen.
