About the Author

David Pond (Washington) is a professional astrologer, national speaker, yoga teacher, writer and guide for spiritual journeys to sacred sites around the world.

David was originally trained as an elementary school teacher. It was here that he learned how to present complex ideas in a simple manner. He then went on to gain a Master of Science Degree in Experimental Metaphysics from Central Washington University. His formal education complements his many years as a practicing professional astrologer, and his life long study of yoga and meditation, thus giving him an in-depth awareness of the field of metaphysics.

A well respected member of the metaphysical community, David has co-author two books: The Metaphysical Handbook, which sold over 20,000 copies, and Crystals, Stones & Chakras. He is also a contributing author in Astrological Counseling and The Mountain Astrologer.

David utilizes his skills by giving lectures, private consultations and taped readings. David has helped individuals find a deeper meaning in life, get in touch with their source of strength, improve relationship skills and identify and overcome problem areas.

David and his wife Laura organize yearly trips to sacred sites such as Bali, the Yucatan and Hawaii.

Cosmic Patterns Software is located in Gainesville, Florida and has a team of computer programmers, technical, and administrative staff who have been developing the Kepler software package since 1982. Kepler has gone through over 20 new versions since 1982, and has evolved and changed tremendously, keeping up with the changes in technology, and introducing more and more power, flexibility, and ease of use with each new version. Kepler has blossomed into an extraordinarily elegant, easy-to-use, flexible, and powerful program. Pegasus was released for sale in 1999.

Synastry is the astrology of relationships. By comparing the natal charts of two people, a picture emerges as to the challenges, strengths, and potentials of the relationship. While the title of this book implies romantic unions, Mapping Your Romantic Relationships: Discover Your Love Potential can be used for any type of relationship, including parent and child, friends, and co-workers.

There are many neat elements to this book, the primary one being that it comes with a CD-ROM. Without any prior knowledge of astrology, you can pop the disk into your hard drive, enter the birth information of two individuals, and generate an in-depth analysis of the relationship. I generated a report for my husband and myself last night, and it was extremely accurate--detailing 52 separate aspects of our relationship.

Another unique element is that this book and CD-ROM includes hard-to-find Chiron interpretations, as well as interpretations for the North Nodes of the Moon (my two favorite elements of astrology!). The software gives you the choice of 12 different House Systems (I use Placidus, myself), as well as whether you want Tropical or Sidereal Zodiac.

The author likens our lives to a grand movie, where we are the director of the play of our lives. Providing an easy-to-understand tutorial on the planetary bodies(the characters in your life play), the signs (the scripts and roles the characters are to perform), the houses (the setting where the characters play out their roles) and aspects (how the characters either support, or are in conflict with, each other), this 246 page book prepares the reader to delve into the art of relationship astrology.

Part Two examines relationship profiles and houses such as the Sun through the houses and signs and its aspect in your chart, the Moon through the houses and signs and its aspect in your chart, and so on.

Part Three discusses synastry, the art of chart comparison. Pond shares some planet comparisons, intra-aspects and the synastry table, and Bill and Hillary Clinton's relationship astrology.

If you are a nosy Scorpio like myself, you'll enjoy having this handy book and CD-ROM to compare the charts of your significant relationships (or even exes?) and find out what works--and what went wrong. Understanding and accepting ourselves leads to understanding and accepting others--giving much needed compassion for all involved.

This is quite a good read. I am a beginner at western astrology (being an avid follower of Chinese astrology) and this provided a good introduction to the subject. I think I will look into it some more.

It is very comprehensive and the CD ROM helped a lot.

This was good fun and provided me with a good introduction to a very different perspective.

I like the chapters on comparing charts and compatibility the most.
