5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Reading!
This was a wonderful book that took me far away from my every day life and threw me into the mouth of a giant octopus! Mixed with an emotional battle bettween a young woman fighting for the life of her father and a minotaur lord who has an obssesion with strange creatures it is a book I would recommend to every one. Just a little touch of romance adds the right key...

3.0 out of 5 stars Well....
I had 2 gripes with this book.
1. For some reason, I couldn't get as involved as I would've liked. Except for the 6 truely horrible DL books I've read, I usually get drawn into these books.
2. The chapters are PAINFULLY long. There are only about 15 chapters. I don't like to stop in the middle of chapters & with this book, you pretty much have to.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too much like a role playing game, October 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Maquesta Kar-Thon: The Warriors, Volume II (Mass Market Paperback)
Obviously being based on TSR's role playing game setting, you need to draw on the standard fantasy role playing elements: magic, fantastic creatures, diamond-in-the-rough heroines, dastardly villains, etc. All of which the author draws upon frequently. Unfortunately that's all she utilizes. Concepts such as character development, plot, pacing, and good storytelling are neglected. The book is essentially a series of combat scenes clearly based on sitting around the gaming table that are thinly connected by a weak narrative. There are much better books within the Dragonlance franchise

5.0 out of 5 stars Why Maquesta? Why not?, April 4, 2005
By
This review is from: Maquesta Kar-Thon: The Warriors, Volume II (Mass Market Paperback)
This is one of the best DragonLance books I have ever read. I have been reading this series since the seventh grade and have read at least 45 books, and this has been one of the most dazzling books of the series. The truth is, a lot of the DragonLance characters get very boring and repetive after a while. Most authors use the same characters, elves, knights, humans, dwarves, and kender in their books. It is always the same group of people based on the group from the original Trilogy. Maquesta Kar-Thon provides new faces, new races, and a new story to the series. I loved the original characters and colorful ride, plus the fact that this is the first and probably only story where there are no kender characters.
What also is nice about this story is that it can be read outside of the series and the reader can still understand what is going on. The book does not completely rely the full DragonLance background and the casual reader can sit down and enjoy this book to its fullest potential without becoming confused.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZINGLY EXCITING, December 27, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Maquesta Kar-Thon: The Warriors, Volume II (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was by far the best book I have read in the Dragon Lance saga. It is exciting throughout the entire book. It took me five days to read this book, and I am a slow reader. But I couldn't put it down. You feel like you have to keep reading to find out what is going to happen next. I wont give out to much info for thoughs of you who have not read it yet, but the book takes you on an adventure to capture an exotic creature. I wont say anymore so I don't spoil it for you. But if you are looking for a book to read that is absoloutly stunning and amazing get this book. It is indeed the best in the warriors series. With the exception of LORD SOTH. Another good book. But never the less Maquesta Kar-Thon is one of the best. It lives up to any standerds. Trust me, buy this one.

This review is from: Maquesta Kar-Thon: The Warriors, Volume II (Mass Market Paperback)
This Is the Story of Maquesta Kar-Thon(Maq) during the time when she was assigned to be the captain of a great ship called "Perechon", to save the life of his father,in the hands of King Attat, her mission is to get a sea beast called "Morkoth". Find out what happened to Maq in her dangerous quest with her friends. I should say this one is an excellent book to read and a very touching story indeed!!!. 2.0 out of 5 stars Why a book on her?, January 6, 2000
This review is from: Maquesta Kar-Thon: The Warriors, Volume II (Mass Market Paperback)
Now I'm not saying that this isn't a good book, by no means. All I'm asking is why did they make a book out of a character that plays such a minor role in the original Chronicles that she is in it for only one chapter. Now we all know what happened in the Chronicles to her and her beloved Perechon. But for those who haven't read the Chronicles I won't spoil it. This book has no meaning if you have already read the Chronicles and know what is to happen. Never did I feel interest in this character and the only reason why I bought this book was because it had the DragonLance name on the cover. I have not been so careless since....
