A real riot!!,

This review is from: Marabelle (Paperback)
Such an engaging book. Marabelle is an amazing woman, so hilarious. This book is loosely based on the stage actress Tallulah Bankhead and brings her to life so vivdly through the eyes of Edward who is a writer or reporter? Sorry, he pales with the likes of Marabelle but he is a great character all the same who first sees young Marabelle as a child and climbing out of her bedroom window with chubby legs and an equally chubby behind, trying to get onto the roof, seeking attention from a father who doesn't really know she exsists. Little girls simply did not go onto the roof to be saved happily by a fireman just for the sake of it in 1916, this starts her first headline in a newspaper, girl clutching for dear life to a chimney haha and she adored the attention. Think Madonna and Mae West, but funny to boot and in a much earlier era. Hey Tom Huff is the real name of a blockbuster romance novelist Jennifer Wilde!! RIP you gifted author, thanks for so many laugh out loud tales, so sad there will be no more from you.

Tom Huff is a superb writer and this story about Marabelle Lawrence is wonderfully written. Huff was a gifted storyteller. And Marabelle is such a charming, sweet, funny and outrageous character.
