5.0 out of 5 stars Highly capable, versatile, musical unit December 13, 2011
By DSharp
I've had this system for six months. I loved it when I was using it only for CDs. I recently used the network function and love it even more.

The sound is phenomenal for such a small unit. I found it to be quieter in operation than the Arcam Solo Mini. The amplifier is Class D so it doesn't run hot like the Arcam. I use it in the bedroom and have the alarm set so I'm awakened to a CD every morning. (The Arcam has a buzzer, no CD, for timer function.)

Recently, I added Netgear WNCE2001 ethernet-to-wireless adapter so I can stream music. I have Pandora One and it sounds quite good as well. It's all easy and intuitive. For Christmas, I gave myself a TV, and connected via optical output.

As you can see, this is a very versatile small unit. Frankly everything you throw at this system sounds good. The sound is warm, rich and detailed. There's a lot of low-end grunt. (I'm using PSB Alpha B-1 speakers.)

BTW, I bought mine from a local dealer. I couldn't be happier.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome... Just Awesome. August 3, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase
For the limited time price on Amazon, $499, this is an amazing All-In-One Hi-Fi system. Great to use, listen to and live with, this Marantz micro is a high-tech marvel. Lovely looks and great usability; will play music from almost anywhere; cracking detail and rhythmic precision.
Spectacular sound. Drives my 85db 6ohm audiophile speakers effortlessly at the volumes I listen. The fact that it can read your DNLA music library and has just about every internet music service including the now essential Spotify, and that it can be fully controlled from my iPad and iPhone (including music browsing) makes it a breakthrough product. Marantz nailed it again with this one...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great sound, poor networking March 14, 2013
I've had one for over two years now, paired with two Paradigm speakers in a small room. I listen to classical music, on internet radio and on Itunes, and to international radio, and I listen often.

The receiver is fairly easy to set up and use. The sound is great!

I think the networking implementation, including AirPlay, is poor. The receiver often loses connection to Itunes. The internet radio takes a long time to boot up, and it too often loses its connection. And this happens even when I'm still getting s signal on my laptop.

Every time I have downloaded a software update from Marantz it has wiped out my list of favorite stations and I've had to re-input them. At this point I have stopped updating.

I think the music side of Marantz is great but their networking side needs some help.
